The leaves stay in the unit on the left, which gets screwed onto the top. Flipping the tea steeps it, and flipping it (back to how it is pictured) removes the leaves from the water. Ah-mazing.

I’ve seen this before by another company! But I’m more familiar w/ H&S so I’ll buy it from you guys:) What is the water volume capacity? The only thing that concerns me is that the leaf compartment may crowd large (particularly white teas)… I sometimes use 1TB of white leaf or more for just 1 6oz cuppa tea.

It’s actually just 260 ml (approx 8oz) so I have been just using a teaspoon and and change. So far I’ve been using rolled & twisted oolongs for it (Ti Quan Yin, Wenshan Baozhong, Da Hong Pao, Fanciest Formosa) and have had no troubles with crowding! I love this concept for my lesser oxidized oolongs. So great to just add water to the leaves all day long, flip and drink to your hearts content!

As I’m in WI, I doubt it… unless you were to hire me. I could sleep in store and would take my payment in tea, cheese, and ice cream:)

I got one of these from Amazon (Eight Cranes brand) and I’m using it right now. If yours is similar, the filter is tight enough to use for rooibois, and easy to clean. It’s a lovely “tea system”.

I’ve also done a number of the fluffier whites and oolongs in this with no problems in crowding.

The only wierdness I’ve experienced with mine is that you need to move slowly when tipping. Moving the water into the steeping compartment too fast can cause air bubbles taking up room in the steeping compartment. Moving the water out too fast can somehow not allow all the water to flow out and remain in the steeping chamber too long, oversteeping. As long as you’re aware of this and move slowly – there are no issues.

I love it.

I’m also using my Eight Cranes tumbler/steeper and it’s awesome! The only problem I’ve had with it is that I didn’t close the lids tight enough and make sure that there were no leaves or debris in the lid before I screwed it on, and I spilled hot water on myself when I turned it over.

If I get an air bubble (which I do pretty much every time), I just slowly tilt the tumbler until the water drains out. It doesn’t really bother me :)

You’ll have to call the SoHo store and have us ship it to you! It’ll be in hopefully come next week!

Sad day. I guess this won’t be a H&S purchase for me after all.:(

Any chance you will be getting any larger ones in? I still need to check out the new SoHo store!

Ditto on larger ones- if only to have the filter area larger.

Unfortunately my contact at Dragon Tea House hasn’t mentioned anything about larger versions. Since the vessel is only 8 oz, I’ve yet to have a problem with leaf expansion.

True, but I’d like to use it for iced tea. The way I make iced tea is to make a highly concentrated smaller cup using a lot of leaf then add cold water. This way I don’t need to use ice (and thus double the amount of leaf.

I have one of these as well and I love it especially for rooibos teas but 8 oz is just not enough , a bigger one is in need for sure!!

This looks damn awesome. I might have to get one to replace my travel mug that has no infuser.
