Oils in the leaves. They rise to the surface and air trying the escape gets trapped by it. I’m sure there is probably a bit more than just oil but that’s all I got.

I know MzPriss I’m no fun :(

Hey I’m all for some magic. Maybe they are little dome houses for baby tea loving unicorns. Or entire universes that may pass in a blink of an eye for us but for the teaverse it lasts billion of years

It’s because there are tiny magical fairies in your tea, they are blowing you kisses. I like this explanation best.

I read that Saponin is what helps make Matcha so foamy (just gonna leave this here http://www.myjapanesegreentea.com/saponin) so I am assuming it is one of the magical chemical compounds that create pixie bubbles

It is a common practice,
in gong fu brewing,
after filling the vessel to the brim,
and before beginning the steeps,
to brush away the layer of bubbles,
using the lid of the gaiwan or teapot.

Gong fu brewing,
is such a magical process in itself,
that it does not require,
the additional embellishments,
of mystical bubbles issuing,
from the lips of your teaware.

Magic seems to be the consensus.

No joke, it’s actually a magical myth in folklore. If bubbles stuck to the side of the teacup, this prophesied romance. More bubbles = more kisses. If they swirled in the middle, this foretold of riches. The greater the bubbles, the more love/wealth in store for you!
