Tea for Inspiration and Creativity
Are there teas or tisanes that inspire you when you embark on a creative project? I’ve found that matcha jumpstarts my muse like nothing else with its combination of calming theanine and energizing caffeine.
Anyone else found that a particular tea allows them to go to new places in their art, writing, craft, or other creative endeavor? What tea?
CRAFTING and TEA…YAY!
Yes…it all depends on the moment tho.
I must admit eventho most of the Tazo Tea/Tisanes aren’t my favorite I do LOVE the names of them!
Great topic…I will be revisiting this soon!
Interesting question! On thinking about it, I find that when I am painting or crafting, I like a pot of coffee, but when I’m reading, researching or studying, I like a pot of tea. The only thing that jumps out at me is that when I’m putting creative energy out I seem to favor coffee, and when I’m taking ideas in I like tea! One thing in common – caffeine!
If I’m reading for enjoyment I like flavored black tea – I think it’s the comfort factor – and I’m I’m researching/studying I like a strong assam – invigorating but focusing – not that jangly energy like coffee (which I love for painting and making things!).
For some reason I only like green tea out, when someone else makes it – not at home. I really like to talk to my friends over green tea!
Other than w/ tea itself or food I have absolutely no creativity lol.
When I’m writing, the boiling/steeping/fidgeting process helps break up marathon thinking sessions—makes a nice come-up-for-air break when I feel like I’m drowning in alphabet soup.
I have an herbal tea from Tay that’s actually called ‘Muse’. Though it’s refreshing, it’s more relaxing than inspirational for me…I tend to get my creative juices flowing after some caffeination. That being said, a really aromatic tea, whether ‘real’ tea or tisane, can start me up too. It’s a kind of uplifting aromatherapy.
I wish this worked for me… I’m taking a ceramics class next month.
Generally any tea can help me settle into a creative mindset for writing, as long as it keeps me awake. I do not as yet have a wide variety of tea, but some of the more complex flavored blends sometimes evokes an interesting level of inspiration. Not necessarily alot, but down interesting side paths of ideas
I tend to go with Greens (mostly Matcha, Sencha or Dragonwell, depending on my mood) while I’m journaling, & that is where a lot of my songwriting & other inspirations start.
During performances I prefer black tea, especially Chai! They energize & make me more outgoing, which is necessary when connecting with an audience. I think the spices in chai may also result in salivation, which keeps my throat from drying out.
Afterwards I’m always wired & elated for a few hours, but that’s how it should be!
