Liquid Proust Teas 2016 Master Thread

I update using comments, find the last one at the end somewhere :P

2015 Recap

Numbers: http://imgur.com/Eu6MPEo , while I didn’t break even by the ending of the 2015 year I am still inside the 12 month window.

Thoughts: With only six months, there was a lot of learning that took place. Without the Steepster community, I don’t think I’d have the positivity I have going into 2016 right now. Most of my thoughts are reflected in the direction I am taking Liquid Proust Teas for the 2016 year and beyond.

2016
There are a lot of things that I want to do, but I cannot do them all. This has led me to the commitment to release 10 to 12 teas for the year of 2016. Each one of these teas will be held to a higher standard than before.

The following teas are in the works:
Roasted Lemon TGY, https://liquidproust.wordpress.com/2015/12/08/roasted-lemon-tieguanyin/
French Toast Dianhong batch #3 and #4
Barrel Aged Puer (six kilograms, http://yunnansourcing.com/en/ripepu-erh/744-feng-qing-golden-pu-erh-loose-ripe-pu-erh-tea.html)
Special double pack. Dark Side and Light Side. Dark, home roasted milk oolong with half roasted coffee and goji berries. Light, milk oolong with cornflowers that are flavored with freshly cut vanilla bean.
Jacked Puer (raw), https://liquidproust.wordpress.com/2015/12/25/jacked-puer-raw/
Chocolate Genmaicha (permission from Verdant to use their Laoshan Black)
Watermelon Oolong (using http://beautifultaiwantea.com/collections/green-teas-taiwan/products/baozhong-oolong-tea-taiwan)
Awaiting random request, but some kind of earl grey will finds its way in there as well; if I end up with the equipment\ before 2017 I will be smoking vanilla into DianHong.

As for shipping, I will keep shipping free for domestic orders over $9. USPS prices are going up starting January according to Etsy and I have no way of figuring out the international shipping fix… I hope to figure something out, however there doesn’t seem to be an easy fix; I’ll probably have a code for Canadian customers though because shipping there is much less than overseas.

Liquid Proust Teas 2016 fundraising will be open until February 18th and can be seen here https://www.etsy.com/listing/262076771/liquid-proust-teas-bamboo-tea-container?ref=shop_home_active_1
Bamboo containers that end up not selling within the fundraiser will be put on sale in March and the tea will be donated to TTB, Instagram Hot Potatoes, and I’ll figure some other stuff out : )
45 needed to sell to begin projects, 9 purchased via Etsy, 1 personally, 1 gifted, 0 purchased through Fundraising event in Columbus (date still being determined) These will ship out within a week instead of at the end of February, I decided to mail them out while I can rather than wait until everyone who donates does. updated 2/9/16

Also, I will be doing my best to not step on toes as I keep an eye on A Quarter To Tea, Whispering Pines, and 52 Teas. With that being said, I know that J Tea International does multiple batches of barrel aged teas and will point customers out to anything that is similar to what I do as well as do the best I can to provide information on where to obtain the base teas that I use.

Please ask questions as this will be the master thread for the entire year : )

Thank you to everyone for your criticism which has helped me see my faults, positive remarks which have caused me to burst with excitement, and everything in between.

Best of luck to you in 2016! I look forward to your barrel aged puerh that sounds delicious! Smoking vanilla into dianhong, no idea what that means but I love vanilla and I love dianhong, so I’m sure that will be great!

Instead of smoking the DianHong tea at home, I’ll be smoking the vanilla beans and then blending them with the DianHong and additional non smoked vanilla bean if needed. It’ll be a balancing act so the malt, cream, and smoke all go together; hopefully it’s possible.

What happened to the Watermelon Oolong that you had been looking into blending? Would love to see that happen.

Best of luck with all your 2016 projects. :))

Oh yeah… that’s still happening. Green Oolong via Farmer Chang being provided by Beautiful Taiwan Tea. I forgot to put it in here :/

+1; this has huge awesomesauce potential :-)

@curlygc , maybe we will have to have the fans tell us what to do :)

@Lauren, I sent an email from my university email. No need to respond until November 2016… but I just wanted to make sure you have received it.

Thanks :)

Just found out Etsy lets shops pick and choose countries so I added Canada to the free shipping on the 2016 fundraiser going on. I’ll post a confirmation that it works when/if a Canadian order is placed.

What gram sizes will your barrel aged puerh be sold in?

I actually don’t have an answer to this as of now. I’m unsure of the total project price or completion date (hoping for an Autumn release).

ok thankyou

And how much of the peachy elixir have you got left, will you continue to make it? I really enjoyed the sample you gave me. Totally impressed by it & want to get some more

Glad you enjoyed it. It’s possible that I may redo it. Still waiting on some remarks on the Oolberry and then Watermelon Oolong; I think flavored green oolongs work well if done right. One day I’d like to think I’ve made something comparable to Butiki or Tealeaves flavored oolongs :)

Rasseru said

Ok, i’m going to try those.. The Oolberry is the one you gave me a sample of the base tea right? I called it ‘alien oolong’ or something due to the bright red stems

Oh, I’m a jerk… the number you requested earlier is 8 (amount of Elixir 9 left)

That’s the one! The stuff has the craziest stems. Did I send the base for free or the flavored? I’ve only heard back from one person on it, but I’m patient.

Rasseru said

I think you sent the base. Its not at my house. else I’d try it now. its tying in with this weird red-leaved TGY i’m hunting. Which has similar red-branches due to the fermentation process.

I’ve red that mastered oolong will have bruising of that color, or are you talking about the whole leaf?

@Rasseru should I save some for you?

Rasseru said

Yes yes please save some. I’m super skint at the moment but as soon as I can I want to make a purchase.

You should definitely still make that one, it’s gorgeous

The Elixir #9 went inactive and I’ll keep it that way unless you don’t want it anymore. Just message me if you are still interested and I’ll hook you up.

Rasseru said

ah, I looked back the other day and didnt see it, yes defo. let me know how much and i’ll buy it

I was totally surprised at how good it was tbh – having only tried shop-bought teabag flavoured teas it surpasses them by a mile

Wishing you all the best in 2016!

So I think it is scheduled to go on my blog next week, but if you want I can give you an abridged opinion on the Oolberry

I’m in the process of learning patience. Thank you for giving me another opportunity to practice :)

Thank you for your patience, I have a crazy backlog on the blog…too many teas, not enough days.

I need to PM you about that :)
