I just typed four paragraphs…. and got a Steepster error… so, brief version: 2017 Sheng Olympics
1) Thoughts on $120 sponsor slots? Would like some cash flow for the last few purchases and thought it would be a nice way to send some selected cakes to sponsors in the meantime based on my tastings over the last year. (only 4 to 5 slots though)
2) Tried to keep cost at $20/slot, it’s ending up at $24.40 to $25.20 depending on shipping for some stuff in Yunnan right now.
3) The exclusive balls from White2Tea and Crimson Lotus Tea ar’e solid! I’m so glad to have been able to work with each vendor. Also joining the unknown (to you at least) selection of tea, a sold out Tea Urchin cake will appear : )
4) Due to request and my understanding over time, cake samples are going from 10g to 16ish grams
5) I’m really excited for this.
6) Each year will have a spotlighted region. Some know what 2017 will be, and the rest of you will know soon enough
Any remarks will greatly help. This is a project for the community and is quickly becoming better and better… going to continue to make relations and hope to do private pressings/request for other vendors as the following years come for the Sheng Olympiads :)
All you’ve said sounds great, and all your work is so appreciated. I can’t fill a sponsor spot, but I can pay now for a regular spot if it would help.
mrmopar & a bad pastry, I will let you know if I choose to go this route. It might be best for me, but I have to run numbers and put together everything first.
Zennenn, 2017 will have 100 spots which will all go through Etsy because keeping track of all that on Excel would be ugly
Dr Jim, more details will come… just need to get finalized information and pay on it all. So far I can tell you that I paid upfront for Midas Touch and Tuhao as F**k to be made into balls for this event since they are my favorites from W2T and CLT: https://www.instagram.com/p/BJVY4bMgls4/
These are exclusive to this event and I hope it exposes why I really enjoy the material from both cakes and chose them over others.
It probably won’t be much longer until I have more information to let everyone know what to expect for the spotlighted region. Posting won’t go up until I have it all and can take pictures with correct figures as well.
No rush. You should pencil me in. I just don’t like to sign a blank check. On the other hand your history with these things has been great.
I think I am going to go ahead and do either 4 or 5 sponsor slots. Just need to write up my short paper to each of them and then figure out the money in regards to what is sending to them. The goal is to not make a profit off of it but just offset cost from ‘x’ to ‘y’ until January when ‘x’ can be paid off with the payments from participates. Part of it will be giving everyone two of the TAF and MT balls to taste prior to the event. I have a little extra I’ve been tasting through the months to make sure they settle correctly and thus far it’s been great :)

Sponsor slots are a thing now. I have four open and a possible 5th depending on some information I’m waiting on. Those interested PM if you’d like to just jump into it, or please wait until I have all the details arranged. The package that will come for the sponsor slot will most likely be split into a few packages due to shipping time for some privately ordered stuff as well as stuff already on hand ready to go… however, receiving two packages throughout a few months should be just as fun as one larger one after waiting.
Basically I’ll take the sponsor money to get TU or BLT rolling.
If there are only 4 sponsor slots, I’d better sign up for one, since I think I’d regret it if I missed out. I don’t mind waiting if it saves postage.

That’s the name of my future aged/rested oolong store. Suppose to be a 2019 opening, but I’m going to just add stuff as I can (aka, when they are done sleeping and all).
