2016: How Much will you spend on tea this year?

So far I think I’ve spent about 230.00 but that doesn’t include my last order from Yunomi of which I only ordered samples. Definitely a lot less compared to last year but still too much based on the fact that I had way too much tea already at the beginning of the year.

I currently sit around $281 for the year and this includes a new tea pot purchase at an art festival. Not too bad for half a year through, I think. I have exhibited restraint yet I also have a built in excuse for buying tea once a month with my tea book club. Heh. Genius.

Teaware my tab is already up to 600 this year. (Celadon teacups are expensive!)..

Actual tea, was trying to keep it under 1000, but just so happens a friend invited me to Lijiang, Yunnan in May…so I’m already at around 800 =(

I spend about 30$ to 60$ a month on loose leaf tea, about 500$ per year.

I am happy with my teaware. I haven’t bought a single item so far this year. My eyes are always open for that elusive, grail, tea cup I saw once, 10 years ago. I regret so much not to have bought it.

The year is exactly half over and I am slightly over my $1000 annual budget. Stupid YS sale.

It’s those unexpected sales that throw a wrench in everything. It takes nerves of steel to make it through the Black Friday, Christmas, & New Year sales without blowing any budget.

You guys make me feel SO MUCH BETTER about my choices. I’m probably at around $200 so far this year.

I’ve been pretty chill this year with regard to my tea spending after my May 2015 trip to Paris that stocked me up tea-wise for QUITE awhile (actually still sipping down the last 3 or 4 teas from that trip), but now I’m working a lot again so there’s a little more coin in my bank account to throw tea-wards.

January: $0
February: $0
March: $27.71 August Uncommon, $4 grocery store, $11 Home Goods
April: $27.17 August Uncommon, $35.18 A Quarter To Tea
May: $4 Tea Forte, $5 Whispering Pines
June: $56.26 Kusmi, $27.31 Tea Chaite

Total so far: $197.57

I keep wistfully loading up shopping carts at Mariages Freres’ website and trying to convince myself to wait and splurge all at once since the shipping charge is so high. Once I’ve made my way through most of my cupboard I expect I’ll be biting the bullet and throwing a cool $125 or so their way.

I didn’t finish any of MF teas I bought even by half. Imo, the seller is largely overhyped and their teas are unnecesarily overloaded with flavorings.

Sara said

Zeks, I prefer flavored teas and have found theirs to be the most subtly flavored and delicious out of the many I’ve tried, I really enjoy them. It’s so great that there’s room in the market for different vendors catering to all the people out there with different tastes.

I caved and spent $56.24 at August Uncommon, but in my defense I got a big raise this week and I really wanted more tea!! I’ve really got my cupboard down to the bare bones at this point and I’ve been daydreaming about living my best life with Silencio.

Total so far: $253.51

Made my big Mariages Freres order!! Goodbye $106.50, hello tea parties. Probably won’t make any significant purchases again until the Black Friday sales, at which point all bets are off.

Total so far: $360.01

Edit: just kidding, I forgot that in my hunger haze yesterday I got a couple Yogi Teas at Whole Foods. 2 for $7.

Total so far: $367.01

I’ve sold a bunch of stuff on eBay lately so my Paypal is burning a hole in my pocket and I bought a few things. Got some interesting pu-erh blends from an Etsy shop a few days ago and just gave in to a Kusmi order. They usually have good offers going and today they got me with the promise of a free mystery gift. I can’t help it, I love surprises!

EarthGoddessBodyShop on Etsy: $20.25
Kusmi: $82.80

Total so far this year: $470.06

Working too much, spending too much. Thank god for this thread though because looking back on my recent orders I just realized that the Kusmi shipment was missing an item! I love Kusmi but their fulfillment team is really not my favorite…

Harney & Sons: $39
52Teas: $32
Kusmi: $48.71
CamilleLaLune on Etsy: $13.21

Total so far this year: $602.98
