12 teas of Christmas from 52teas

Who else has this and is waiting patiently for tomorrow to open the first package? I’m excited – this will be my first 52teas experience. I figured this would be a good way to sample a lot of different flavors.

No spoilers, please, if you’ve been naughty and peeked already! :)

A question for those of you who have the sampler – if I’m posting tealogs, would it be best to wait until the evening, so as not to ruin the surprise for people? Or, should I just log whenever (on or after the appropriate day, of course!), and figure that if people want to keep the flavor a surprise, they won’t check steepster?

I just received mine today. I’m actually going to follow the directions. It really doesn’t matter to me when the tealog is posted. I’ll probably just write my tealog on paper and then post later in the day. This should be interesting though.

Should we create a “new” tea called Dec 14th, or just post whatever flavor the tea really is? I don’t want to ruin the surprise for anyone and am not sure how to log these without doing that.

I’d say just saving tealogging that tea until the next day would be the easiest way to do it.

I’ve been considering putting up a “Guess Frank’s 12 Days of Christmas teas” thread for the past few days. lol

I can’t tell you how much this conversation is tickling me.

Um… Frank, what are you doing here? Where’s the tea of the week? Get busy!!!

(hehehe)

Working on the label/post between short breaks. Kind of embarrassed at the level of sheer silliness involved in this week’s blend.

Sheer silliness = interest piqued!

Okay. Let the hilarity ensue. It’s posted: http://www.52teas.com

You know I’m gonna cry if that’s not in my little sample tomorrow, right?

Please don’t cry, but it’s not in there. Sorry. There is only one new blend in the sampler, and you have to wait until December 25th for it.

Okay, I can deal. I’ll just be ordering from you next week then!!

lol And here I thought Frank had spoiled tomorrow’s tea with his weekly selection post.

I will be posting a new review every day on http://SororiTeaSisters.com to announce the tea of the day and review it. They will be posting at noon every day. Or… somewhere thereabouts… since that would require me to actually be up and brewing tea and writing about it well before 9 am, because even though I said I was going to open each one 1 day early, I’m not going to do that. I am going to stick to the way it was intended… no matter how difficult it will be for me.

AWESOME!!!!!

Oh, you’d better believe that the first thing I’ll be doing when I get up is opening that little pouch to see what the tea of the day is!!

But I’m going to write my review in word and post it later in the day. Because I fully recognize that I’ll be the only person awake at 4 am EST ripping into the package.

OK… 4 am is just an unreasonable time for anyone to be awake, unless they are STILL awake from not having gone to bed yet. My usual bed time is like 2 am, there is no way I could wake up at 4 am. LOL

Most of my managers are at work no later than 6, so I have to be up and ready to leave in case I have to fill in for one of them. I agree, it is an unholy hour…but I’m usually off work by 3:30-4 in the afternoon. Luckily I’m naturally a morning person.

Yeah, I’m not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination. Although, I probably could be a morning person if someone could arrange for mornings to start about 10 hours later.

I will check out the tea each day and review each of them in the evening, mostly since I am pretty much working all day and only have time to write at night. However, I will see which tea I will be drinking that morning so I know what it is then look forward to it all day.

I’m wondering if it would be ok if I opened mine at 9pm my time, since it would be midnight on the east coast. LOL

I would say GO FOR IT!!!

Ok, just a note to those of you who haven’t opened yours yet – the tea is right in there! Somehow I thought there would be another bag inside the packet, but no, it is the loose tea. I recommend opening with a scissors so you don’t spill any precious tea! :)

Jaime said

This is very, very good advice! I ripped into it thinking that if I used scissors, I’d cut open the bag the tea was in. Woops! Luckily I didn’t lose too much of it!

Very good call, thanks for the info.

I’m curious how this went: Did any of you tear the label inside? Were you able to retrieve it easily? Did it still look nice after sitting in there with the tea?

Fine for me with no tea spillage – I started to tear the corner, but when I realized the tea was right there, I got my scissors. No damage to the label, and it was pretty easy to remove even though I had just woken up so my dexterity wasn’t great. I have to admit, I was sweating it a little bit, though, because I really didn’t want to spill that tea!

I folded over the top of the original packet since I wasn’t going to have the tea right then (I’ll definitely be sampling later today!), but I was still concerned about spillage later so put it inside a zip top sandwich bag to prevent later tea spillage. I probably could have just put it back in the box and it would have stayed put, but it was early and I wasn’t really thinking. ;)

I cut mine open since I did assume that the tea would be straight in the little packet. I ended up afixing the label to the packet and putting the tea in a small container, which I put a small sticker on with 1st tea of xmas/14 December on it, since I thought the packet might be hard to scoop tea out of. And as a preview of my tealog — yum, Frank, just yum, and this is not a flavor I’d have tried on my own.
