Is this eBay seller legit?

Is this actually Teavivre on eBay or not?

http://www.ebay.com/usr/teas_and_thes?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

Some of prices are lower, and I was thinking of buying from them, but I can’t really tell if this is them or their tea.

Edit: Okay, yes, they are the same company. But while this thread is going, what are some other eBay shops you’ve had good luck with in the past? I know about Berrylb, but nothing else.

This is the official website for Teas and Thes. http://www.teasandthes.com/
They look like a wholesaler and they have a link to Teavivre on the bottom of their site.

Okay, so you think they’re good?

That is TeaVivre on eBay.
King Tea on aliexpress is another good one. Dragon Teahouse is ok just don’t buy any aged stuff from them. Royal Tea Bay is fine except for a few of their Dayi products that are fake. AllanK is a big fan of StreetShop88. These have been the only ones I have tried or heard good things about.

And y’all have said good things about StreetShop88, right?

My Teavivre purchases show up as Tea and Thes on my credit card statement. According to their website, Teavivre was a second site established for the English speaking market: http://www.teasandthes.com/about-us/

Good to know, thanks!

Also, I know about Berrylb on eBay, but what other eBay shops have you all had good luck with?

I have had good experiences with Royal Tea Bay on several occasions.

They also send a cake worth the same value if you send a picture showing that a cake had some sort of ‘non tea’ item pressed into it :)
(speaking from experience)

Oh man, do you know what the non-tea material was?

It was a long strand of hay, very intact hay :)
I sent them a joke about receiving a Horse Cake and they responded with a credit towards another cake :P

Oh wow… I think I’d rather not deal with that even if they did fix it.

Keep in mind, RTL sells tea from many places… they are just a store, that doesn’t represent them. It would be impossible to look through all the cakes.

I’ve had a cake from another vendor that had a full toothpick in it and I still buy from there :)

Could you maybe send me a PM so I know who did this so I can avoid buying from them? A toothpick? Someone had probably just used it. That’s just disgusting.

Or they had used it in whatever year your cake was made, so whatever the person had in their mouth just festered there in the cake for years… I hope you got a refund on this one? Ugh… You know, with these kinds of stories, I’m surprised people don’t find dead bugs and rodents in some of these cakes.

Yep, That is why I only buy big factory shou and shou from our trusted guys on here, YS, W2T and Crimson Lotus and Mandala.

@mrmopar: Yep, I’m thinking I’m not the sort of person who would handle that sort of surprise well. It would probably turn me off puerh for good.

Quality control is the issue. The big factories are much stricter and cleaner. Other factories not so much. Our local site guys have good quality control as well.
On big factories I try to stick to Menghia, HaiWan, XiaGuan and and occasional Nan Jian or CNNP/Kunming.

@mrmopar what are your thoughts on Mengku?

mrmopar said

@LP, I think they would be fine. They are a larger factory but I have only had a few teas from them. I had a Spring Tip cake and a 2005 Award shou. I do have one of their silver sheng cakes in the pumi from 2009 I hope to break out in a bit.

I just like how they put a full leaf over the cake prior to pressing… I get suckered into those kind of cakes.

I think their processing is a bit different. I actually think they do a lot of on site processing on the various mountains in huts especially made for this operation.
We all have tea like that. It’s called ‘Tuition’ tea. Almost like a school course till we get on the good stuff. I wouldn’t think that cake would be bad though. You take a whirl in a cup and see how it is.

People do find bugs in tea. Don’t google it. I think it’s more a loose tea problem than a pu problem, but it happens. And feathers. And weird stuff in general.

No… Honestly, the idea of mouse remains bothers me much more than finding a bug, but… Ew.

And obviously I have no choice but to google it now that you’ve said not to google it…

Eh..I’ve found a hair in some mini tuos from YS. Not really a big deal, that’s what the rinse is for :P

Dragon Tea House has a consistent following on Steepster.

This is a great thread, thanks for putting the question out there.

I agree. I remembered Allan mentioning a couple of these at one point, but I could never keep track of them or remember where he’d written that.

i have a giftcard. haha

Hm. Good question. Anyone?

I wouldn’t buy puerh on Amazon, use the gift card for some teaware, check out Music City Tea on Amazon. You could also buy a tea related book!

mrmopar said

I will echo what t-ching says about Amazon.

Spring Tea Group is on Amazon, Longrun Puerh is the name of their brand. They are good from what I know. I’ve only bought one cake from them. They ship from California.
