When anyone buys teas online does he go and check reviews first?

Right now we are lacking in terms of reviews for teas and all other products, How we can increase reviews for all products?

I do when I’m attracted to a new site by a sale. But more likely I’ll go and buy a tea when I’ve seen more than a few good reviews on it and others from the company. I’m unlikely to place an order unless I’m eying several teas though, or there’s a good promotion going on (to offset shipping) AND it seems like a trustworthy company.

Alot of companies have posted asking for reviews in exchange for free samples. I’ve seen quite a few do that and that is nice on behalf of the company, and engages the community. I’ve quite enjoyed the experience when I’ve gotten to participate, and I’m more likely to buy from the company after because if I like the tea I like to support those businesses. You could also probably send some press samples to tea bloggers, but since they have their own platforms, they might not be reviewing on steepster.

Yes, I think that sending samples to bloggers is the best way. At least is the way that works with me. For example, I don’t use to blindly trust the tea reviews from the web where I am buying because they are not impartial and it could be manipulated.

Having bloggers review tea’s is an excellent way to get your product “out there”.

I tend to look at reviews before I buy tea. I’m actually most likely to look here on Steepster, since the people here tend to be very knowledgeable, and have experience with teas from many companies. I’m more likely to buy teas with mediocre or high reviews, and less likely to buy teas with no or low reviews. Giving free samples in exchange for reviews, having very inexpensive samples, or having a sale on samples is the best way to attract attention to your company.

When I’m buying online, no matter what it is (tea, clothes, etc) I always try to read the reviews. Sometimes you just never know until you read them!

That said, I can also be quite lazy when it comes to leaving reviews (except for tea, thank goodness for Steepster) and I should probably be better about it.

I agree with the advice to send samples out for reviews at first to boost review numbers. The only thing I want to emphasize is that recipients should know that you want an HONEST review. If I know samples were sent out, then I see a dozen glowing reviews, I don’t always trust them. I think that sometimes we unconsciously favour a free tea and it can be helpful to know that. Admit everything up front, and really ask for honest feedback. It may bring you sales and also help you with tea decisions in future.

Haha, oh gosh – I think I’m going to have to start being more picky with my tea reviews! I have a hard time disliking the things I try.

But yes, that is an excellent point.

That’s okay too though! If you like it, like it. Tell people that. It’s great! The issue is that people are often over-generous with something they received for free. I’m sure I’ve done the same. I also have a tendency to be generous with new things, and then more critical over time as I’ve come to really know them. But I don’t always take the time to go back and write another review or update the first, and then I’ve left only positive feedback when really there was more to the picture.

I have seen a lot of people offer to review the teas on Steepster and then write one or two sentences. It’s a pretty poor payoff for the companies.

Yeah, that’s true. Oh the psychology of free things!

Even though I’m lazy about review, I can say that this: http://steepster.com/teas/imperial-tea-court/26890-rose-garden-dragon-well
is one of the tastiest rose greens I have ever had, even at 2 years old. I look forward to purchasing from your company, but that is the only tea that I know of from your company. Your prices are on the higher end of normal, so that, plus the shipping cost (8 bucks shipping for one ounce of tea?) are putting me off from experimenting with other teas of yours.

I do not review teas anywhere else but Steepster unless I am specifically requested to do so. I know sites like Teavivre will ask for permission from Steepster reviewers to repost their review on their website, then specifically state at the top of the review that it is reposted with permission. That may help you gather them all in one place (your website).
