Matcha recommendations, please!

I am trying to drink a big bowl of matcha every day now for health reasons. I have grown to really look forward to it, and have to restrain myself from having it too early because then I will want TWO bowls and I can’t afford that!

I love KaiMatcha Premium, but alas!, they are sold out again. I am thinking of buying DoMatcha but don’t know which to get, and also am considering Red Leaf but I am not sure which is the best one for drinking as a striaght whisked matcha. I mostly use theirs for matcha lattes.

What are your favorites that don’t go over $40 for 30 grams?

I wish I had read it before I ordered Red Leaf’s most expensive matcha! Their description was great, but her review says not so great! Rats! Well, here’s hoping she had a bad batch and mine will be better. If it’s bad, I will get DoMatcha, I guess. I love KaiMatcha but they are always sold out.

Very likely bad batches and bad storage somewhere along the line. It’s supposed to be sourced from the pricey Aiya one too. I find RLT’s descriptions on their matchas completely interchangeable, just like the pictures being the same for everything.

Thanks! It has shipped so hopefully I will know soon! I can’t decide whether to order DoMatcha from their website and know I get the real deal, or order on Amazon and save on shipping but risk getting a fake. I have gotten several fakes or seconds in the past year and a half! I don’t know if that could happen with tea, but why not? I will be very happy if this Red Leaf Tea works out!

I really like Hibiki-an. I generally just purchase their house matcha for the price vs quality but their superior and premium matches are also excellent.

I pretty much only have cheap everyday matcha, which is Deluxe Matcha from Red Leaf Tea. It’s floral like an oolong, so I really enjoy it, but it has a bit of an umami aftertaste and is a bit gritty at the end, which I don’t enjoy. Still, I drink a ton of it nearly every day as straight matcha, matcha lattes, and mixers.

DoMatcha is good but a tad overpriced and overly vegetal. I haven’t had it in a long time but Teavana’s matcha, $20 for 40g was delicious and a pretty good value.

I’m finding I enjoy moderately priced matchas more than the higher end stuff. Yukki-Cha’s most expensive matcha is pretty terrible on its own, I can only have it in matcha lattes.

Wow, I hadn’t even considered Teavana’s. I will probably be near a Teavana store sometime in the next few weeks. I will check it out. Maybe I will get a cup to go and see if I like it. Thanks for the rec!

We sell a ceremonial grade for $35, we get monthly shipments and store the matcha in the freezer so the product stays fresh until shipment.

Good to know! I looked up the two reviews on here and it received glowing reviews. Will have to try it when this tin runs out! Thank you!
