Liquid Proust's Anniversary Tea Sale!

After seeing Haveteawilltravel’s post about being on Steepster for a year I was curious about when my one year mark would be. Turns out it was just a few days ago! Somewhat hard to process how much I’ve done in a single year within the tea community… over $4,000 in group buys, 50+ swaps, 10+ gifted packages, 4 hosted tea events, over 800 different teas drank, and 761 reviews. This was all possible because of the community and would not have occurred if it was just me on my own. For that, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has exchanged words with me, swapped with me, provided feedback on my reviews, participated in group buys, provided gifts, and even those who just read what I post, each and every person along the way has helped keep my passion as strong as it was when I finally joined Steepster to today.

In regards to having an anniversary sale, I have decided I’ll offer everything besides my aged oolongs with the thought to restock to have a new selection to swap with. The following teas are ones I have enough to split between multiple people, but for every dollar I will include a sessions worth of a different tea from my personal stash that has a lower amount of volume.

Ette, The Moon Represents My Heart
Finest Brew, Premium Silver Peony
Bai Chamoux, 2015 Ram
Bai Chamoux, 2016 Monkey Memorial
Mengku, 2007 raw
Tealyra, Japanese Kanaya Midori White
Tealyra, Darjeeling Margaret’s Hope Silver Needle
Whispering Pines, Jabberwocky
Verdant, Bai Ji Guan
Assam Heritage, Highland Green
Assam Heritage, Roasted Green
Assam Heritage, Smoked Green
Yunnan Sourcing, 2013 Wu Liang Ye Sheng
Yunnan Sourcing, 2015 Ye Zhu Tang

I’m really relaxed with pricing and I have yet to hear anything negative in regards to tea I’ve sold to anyone; easiest way for me is to just be given a set dollar amount someone would like to pay and the teas they want and then I will make it work!

Also:
Free to all thanks to Daylon who gifted it to me and I am gifting it out to others :)
Mandela, 2012 Noble Mark. due to a coworker giving me tea from a gift from one of vendors Pear Mountain oolong, and from a ‘friend’ some 2008 Ye Sheng Liubao to sample.

Hi! Can I claim a chunk of the Yunnan Sourcing Wu Liang Ye Sheng? I’m new here but looking to get more into raw pu’erh!

Hold up, where in Ohio are you from? I may just travel to you and hook you up!

Sounds fun! I’m in Oberlin, so near Cleveland.

Dang, the area is so large! I’m down in Columbus and my girlfriend lives in Cleveland Heights. Let me figure out if there is a Sunday coming up that I would be free; if not, I may just have to hook you up via USPS.

Ah that’s all right, don’t want to make you drive cross-state. But thanks! I can pay shipping.

I have more tea than I can drink in several earthly lifetimes, so I am not in the market for more, but I wanted to say how delightful your generosity and kindness are, LP. I am new here but have lurked for well over a year as I tend to avoid online communities.

I amm going to hijack your thread a bit LP. We have some new puerh drinkers I want to introduce. The OolongDrunk, Whiteantlers, and ccr are some people that recently joined our community that need some followers and maybe a hi from us. I am glad to have them and I am impressed by how this site has grown since I joined in 2012. Great site, great people and just like a second family.

@Whiteantlers I actually browsed Steepster for about 14 months while I was in college and talked to my best friend about how knowledgeable people were which caused me to not join because I didn’t want feel as if I provided nothing. Turns out that everyone is valued because we all have different opinions and we are all at a different stage in our tea journey; just like people are with say cooking, pottery, or wine tasting. So thankful Steepster is unlike Reddit in that sense because it’s something I really enjoy and will continue to enjoy for my life so finding people who share that enjoyment is a wonderful thing. Not many people locally are into tea like I am so I grateful that I can find that community online. Hope you continue to find Steepster to be a great tool!

@mrmopar Don’t forget, just last year I said pu’erh was nasty and threw away a few ounces of it. Pu’erh definitely takes some guidance from helpful individuals; at least from my experience. I’m always trying to find others who have been wanting a community to share their tea passion with which has been a fun journey to connect people with people, vendors with people, and then trying to make a bridge between IG, FB, and Reddit to Steepster and back.

You opened the door for a lot of people on here. I have watched it grow a lot from your efforts.

Thanks :)
I hope to see it continue to grow. There is still a large amount of matcha and kombucha enthusiast that I am not as familiar with which I hope to one to try to help funnel here. Not to mention the growth of pu’erh drinkers as people help them understand how to brew them as well as which ones would help fit their already existing taste preferences.

Thanks again very much, LP and mrmopar. When I first started collecting vintage perfumes, that, too was a strange world…chypres, ambergris, Guerlinades, nitro musks, vinegary top notes. The perfume world can be very cut throat, as I imagine the tea world can be, too, but Steepster seems like a warm, welcoming community and I am thrilled to have found you all.

Well… to be fair, anything from 1989 will be confiscated by me!

Hi Liquid Proust. I’m pretty new to the community here on steepster, and didn’t even realize you have only been here a year! From all your posts and knowledge I thought you had been around from the beginning. Anyways, I was looking at your list and would love to try some of the raw pu’erh you have. I’ve tried one or two ripe pu’erhs, but have not had the opportunity to try many raw ones yet. So if there are still some left I may be interested in trying them. I see the two from Yunnan Sourcing and the one Mengku. Anyways, let me know!

I got you :)
Let me prepare about 150 grams of raw for you to play with; water to leaf ratio, steep time, and temperature.
Just give me a good week to put it all together :)
Also, thank you for the comment. Some people view it negatively how active I am with my limited ‘time’ put in, however if you asked people who know me personally… I have dedicated a lot of time to tea to build my foundation so I could be as useful as possible for everyone. I decided awhile back that tea is something I can enjoy for the rest of my life and anything I will for the rest of my life is worth dedicating time, effort, and money to. Many here have paved an easier way for me with their knowledge and providing tea, to which I would like to extend to you as well!

That sounds great! I’ll look forward to trying them out. Also, any information on them would be greatly appreciated, even if it’s just a post-it note. I’m always trying to learn about the teas I try.

As far as tea knowledge in general, I greatly appreciate your contributions and willingness to share your knowledge with others. I have to say it’s intimidating to start talking on some of these forums. That being said, I’ve only been met with warm and welcoming replies on steepster, which is great. I’m new here, but also fairly new to taking tea seriously. Although I grew up drinking tea, I only starting learning about it and drinking quality stuff a couple years ago. It’s great to have people willing to share their years of wisdom with us new people! :)

I’d be interested in any of those raw puerhs you have, as I’m trying to get more of a feel for that kind of tea. I’m slightly bummed that I missed your last Sheng Olympics ;)

Indeed! I’m working on the splits :) https://www.instagram.com/p/BC5Z4MQRYMn/

@LiquidProust It’s great to find you on Steepster! Like you mentioned above, puerhs really need some guidance. I’d love to learn some things about puerhs and try some if you have any left. Upstate NY is kind of isolated on the puerh front and I have no idea where to begin. I’d certainly be willing to pitch in for shipping and handling!

You came to the right place. Lots of people in your area. AllanK, boychik, and Rich are all pretty close.Dr Jim is just north of you as well.

teauttle said

@mrmopar wow that’s great to know. For some reason I thought @boychik was in Russia.

mrmopar said

Brooklyn but she does post in her native language. I think she and Allan are going to the big tea festival this weekend.

teauttle said

@mrmopar that makes sense. I wish I could make it down to the City for the festival this weekend but I’m headed up to Toronto for some tea shops (and its my birthday). Next time I make it down to the City I’ll have to meet up with Allan and boychik!

I just shot off around 8 raw packages for people, let me go through what I have and make you a package. I’ll PM you for info.

Bai Chamoux, 2016 Monkey Memorial
YS Ye Zhu Tang
and if you have any of the w2tea basics left, I’d love to try something from their brand. :)
