Anji Bai Cha
Brimming with layers of complex vegetal notes, the slightly viscous liquor evokes fresh cream, halzelnut, and roasted zucchini. A balanced cup with on-point astringency.

Produced in very limited quantity each year due to the short harvest window. Our Anji Bai Cha is picked in early spring before temperature climbs above 25 C and the leaves loose the pale jade color. Legend has it that an emperor in Song Dynasty (960-1279) was enchanted by the simmering pale liquor of Anji Bai Cha and named it “Bai Cha” or white tea (it is indeed processed as green tea). This special tea cultivar was thought to be extinct for a long time until two ancient bushes were discovered in 1982. And then a new crop was propagated from the 300+ year-old tea plant.

Lu An Gua Pian
A famous green tea from the high mountains of Anhui Province. This region has been producing some of the best green teas since Tang Dynasty (618-907). Made from the second and third leaves of each stem, Lu An Gua Pian dons a gorgeous sunflower seed shape and forest green color. The translucent infusion floods the palate with deep notes of pine and toasted nuts. A strong, full-bodied green tea for those seeking to challenge their taste buds.

Tai Ping Hou Kui
A magnificent green tea from the pristine hillsides of Hou Keng (Monkey Grove). These gorgeous leaves, measuring approximately 3 inches, produce a remarkably clean liquor with a deep flavor. The cup opens with floral notes resembling wild orchid and gradually reveals a warm undertone of roasted asparagus and chestnut. Pleasantly sweet and well-textured.

Hand-plucked only once a year, this early spring picking is one of the highest quality Hou Kui the region has to offer. These jade green leaves are pan-fired to perfection, hand pressed between layers of silk mesh in a bamboo tray, and laid flat to cool. Hold a leaf up close and see the unique cross hatch marks of the silk mesh imprinted on the tea.

I’m trying to place an order but the coupon is just taking $30 off my cart instead of 30% like you said in your post. Was that the intention? I mean, I could get behind a free $30 but I figure it’s probably some type of error. Maybe you can clear this up for me. I’m really looking forward to trying the elderflower tea! :)

Just got a pack of the Lu An Gua Pian! And i’m curious why is it spelled “lu An”? I thought the Chinese character is read “Liu An”. At least that’s what google translate tells me?

Good question, Orangeblossom. I wondered about that when I first learned about Lu An Gua Pian as well. While the Chinese character should read “Liu” (which means six) in official Mandarin, the Lu/Liu here is referring to a location. Since “Lu” is pronounced the same way as the other word “land”, they’ve been used interchangeably since ancient times. In fact you still hear a lot of locals say “Lu An” today :)

Thanks! That’s very helpful of you:) Can’t wait to try the “Lu” An Gua Pian and Black Peony sample
