New members welcome thread.

I have constantly been having these reoccurring thoughts so please excuse my hijacking for an on topic remark:

Steepster is a very intimidating place because there are many members who have a vocabulary and experience that makes someone new feel as if they cannot contribute. Realistically, I would love for new members to feel welcome right away but that takes team work and this is what I want people to understand: When someone first starts out here, without any likes on their notes or anyone talking to them it makes this site seem a little useless. As a community I understand there are members who do this for themselves, others who want to engage with fellow tea drinkers, and then those who are just curious about the whole tea world. If you realize it takes time to sign up, write a review, learn the platform of Steepster, and read through some older stuff, it would be very appreciated if we could take just a few minutes every week to read notes from someone new and drop a line; I know it makes my day when I receive a new comment whether it is telling me I’m wrong or right because it meant someone spent time on what I spent time on.

I’m hoping that as a community we can help others not only realize the terms we use, find the deals we seek, catch up on information quickly, and share tea with new friends, but that we encourage people to speak positively of Steepster. Yes, there are seasons of odd times where most of the activity is around pu’erh, group buys, or scandalous verbiage, but in the end I see this site being an amazing tool for others to learn more about a lifestyle, hobby, passion, art… whatever you want to label it, enjoying tea.

It doesn’t take much to follow someone, like a note, or drop a nice sentence, but it can encourage more activity and community involvement.

Hey there, raising a cuppa to steepsterites and posting here to reintroduce myself as its been a few years since I posted. Everyone I have followed in the past has not reviewed anything in years as well, so I’ve followed a few active sippers and will add my own tastings. I’ve been creating and selling tea for nine years now and enjoy sharing my experience.

New to loose leaf tea and new to this site, looks fascinating. I live in London and just posted my first (brief!) review of a decent tea shop near me, which I recommended because they offer sample sizes of all their teas. For beginners on a budget, samples are a godsend.

I’m new to the social media side of tea, but not new to tea. I have been drinking seriously for about 3 years now, with most of my consumption being puer. I finally decided it was time to contribute to the conversation rather than just lurking! So here I am!

Hi! I grew up drinking green tea (mainly longjing – I was born in Hangzhou!), but I had no idea that there were so many different varieties of tea out there until I started looking up teas on a whim. I’m excited to explore the world of tea and make new friends here! =D

On the topic of exploring different varieties of tea, does anyone know of any affordable tea samplers?
