Hi again steepsters!

We wanted give you a little heads up about our tea guide for our 2016 Winter Harvest Taiwan Tour. For our time in Lugu and Ali Shan, we will be led by Andy Kincart, lead tea sourcer for Eco Cha. If you like Eco Cha’s teas, you’ll know that this is a great opportunity to learn from one of the top oolong tea experts in central Taiwan. If you’re not familiar, check them out here:

Hope to see you in Taiwan!

This is something I might be interested in another year when I might have the money. It sounds like a lot of fun though.

Thanks for your interest, AllanK. We will definitely be offering this tour next year (and beyond). We’ll let you know when we have 2017 dates set.

I went last year to alishan with my wife, stayed in a hostel in the tea fields eating mountain steam boat Every night, most amazing and beautiful experience and the high mountain Oolong is superb.
If you go to alishan to see the Sun rise get there like 3am as the mainland tour groups are never ending.

I’m glad you enjoyed your visit to Ali Shan. It is truly a magical place! Jaw dropping views, great people, good food, and, of course, amazing high mountain oolong tea!

The sunrise views can be spectacular as well. We don’t have this activity specifically set in our itinerary because, as you mentioned, the overwhelming number of Chinese, Japanese, and Taiwanese tourists at the official Ali Shan Forest Recreation Area often makes it less than relaxing. We can, however, arrange for guests to catch some spectacular sunrise views at more private and less touristy spots in the Ali Shan Scenic Area.
