Special Teas bought out by Tevana

It’s sad news for many who bought tea from Special Teas for 14 years. My heart goes out to those who may have lost their jobs as the result of this sale of giant Special Teas, of Stratford, Ct. to Teavana of Atlanta, Ga. I saw an ad on FB saying 75% off sale at ST then something about wanting to get our customers back? I have never bought from the other company, nor will I but I am deeply saddened that Special Teas is no longer. i hope that this clears up the confusion.

Didn’t Teavana basically buy all their teas from ST anyway? I always thought they were basically one in the same…

I purchased teas from ST, infact they were my only vendor and I devolped a customer base that grew to really like the teas that I had from ST. I was very surprised by the news of ST brand was coming to an end and who they were teaming up with. I will not buy from Teavana because they do not offer wholesale. I was told that the ST brand would end Feb. 2011 and that they were not taking ST brands to Teavana and that comes from my personal phone call to the owner of ST. He was the first person that I always communicated with when I started my tea business in 1996.

After dealing with ST for 15 years, I can understand the confusion especially when you are told early in the year of 2010 that ST was coming out with new flavors and not a word about them closing shop until a letter that came in the mail in August and September. I had been in communication with ST and know one mentioned that they were going out of business. I am sure that was done to make sure that they kept up on sales until the day they closed.
