There are some companies that offer samples of most of the teas they sell.

Upton offers a very broad assortment, but relatively few flavored teas:

Teavivre is limited to Chinese tea, but might be easier to choose from:

Harney has perhaps the broadest assortment of types:

I buy regularly from all three. I would pick one of the companies and use either their descriptions or Steepster reviews to select a handful of different styles of tea. Drink them to find what you like.

Silk Road Teas offers nice samplers:

Adagio is a good place to buy samples from as well, as most of their teas are available in rather inexpensive sample sizes:

I’ll toss my name into the ring here and say that while we don’t technically have “samples” our “taster size” is 15 grams which offers enough tea for several cups but not so much that it’ll be overstocking your pantry.

Plus, we have a fun, new flavor every week!

I’d forgotten the Verdant 5 for 5. Best value around!

I agree! Plus you get a $5 coupon too.

I second the Verdant Teas 5 for 5, it was my intro to the world of very high quality teas, and I enjoyed every flavor. Make sure to use the right temperature of water, and appropriate ratio of tea to water, otherwise your tea might not come out perfect.

It was a long time ago, but I think I remember reviewing some of the teas I got from my 5 for 5, feel free to check out my tea log

Den’s Tea has a really nice Green Tea Sampler – it’s been years since I ordered this but I remember being really impressed with what I received from them: http://www.denstea.com/bnew-to-dens-teab-c-377.html

this is what got me started: https://www.adagio.com/gifts/holiday_ingenuiTEA.html

But it’s mostly more useful for people that one the teapot, which is pretty cool and useful. The site also sells good priced samples for most of their teas. Let me know if you’re a new customer and want a $5 gift card (referrals give us points and you money).

We, Wan Ling Tea House have a selection of tea tasters which are grouped into different tea types which hopefully helps people explore different teas:
