Best finds on Ebay/Aliexpress/DHGate/Amazon under $5?

I was looking into some really interesting looking cheap teas on Ali before they are gone and was very curious about what others have bought and enjoyed before. I tend towards small samples (5-25g) and free shipping, but I’m mostly curious about experiences that others have had?

Right now, I’m looking into this monstrosity: (http://tinyurl.com/z7lvzbt) that could be awful, but looks like a unique tasting experience. This (http://tinyurl.com/jawu57w) cake made from tea flowers also looks interesting. I have not tried Camellia blossoms before.

As for cheap sample sizes, (http://tinyurl.com/gvo6nkf) and (http://tinyurl.com/hdgctb5) are beautiful in colouration. I expect they don’t taste the best, but I’m thinking they might make a nice base for a custom tea blend I want to do for a friend’s birthday.

I had this today, which I thought was a good value: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2015-TAE-TEA-DaYi-ChuanQi-or-Legend-Bing-Cake-Beeng-357g-Yunnan-Pu-er-Raw-Tea/32448337114.html. Definitely not under $5, but considering the size of a cake it’s rather cheap.

That is a nice one to be so young.

I’ve never seen a flower cake like that before. The “monstrosity” literally made me laugh out loud…. I would urge you to avoid! I’d also say that the tea flower cake would not be the best use of funds. There is a good reason why these would never be stocked by a well respected tea vendor. Also, you’re absolutely right when you say about the black teas “they may not taste the best”

Getting lots of samples is a great idea and I have spent many happy hours exploring. What sort of tea do you like? Steepster is great because you can tap into the collective wisdom, thoughts and experiences of this community. Go to “teas” and then see what other people have rated highly that are also in sync with what you want to get.

a bad pasty: Thank you for the recommendation! King Tea is a reputable seller, so I would have no problem buying a larger quantity from them. I’ll keep them in mind for future orders.

Rob: The thing is, I’ve tried most of the highly rated teas on Steepster. I’m looking to try something mysterious. Additionally, I don’t want to commit to a large quantity of one flavour right now. As much as I love companies like Whispering Pines, they only sell high grade teas in larger quantities. I’m looking for cheap teas in small quantities.

I’d reccommend teabox for samples. Maybe take a look here: https://www.teabox.com/tea/holiday-tea-collection
They do others sample selctions too.

Yunnan Sourcing will do 25g samples on some of their teas. They have a large range of tea around the $7-10 range, for 50g. I know there will be shipping… but this is a curated selection and I would say overall it represents good value for money. They have frequent 12% or 15% discount offers, so this would help erode any shipping.

For japanese tea, maybe try http://yunomi.life/search?q=sample They currently have a free shipping promo for $50+ purchase that ends 5th January.

Dragon Tea House are also on Ebay, link to their main website: http://www.dragonteahouse.biz/assortment/
