Seasoning Wooden Cups

I recently got some wooden cups that I thought would be nice to use with shu pu erh. They seem to have some oil or wax rubbed in so I gave them a good clean and proceeded with a test run with a Golden Pu erh.
Using such a tea for a test run was a bit foolish as the tea has a natural woody flavour but it seemed to me that I was drinking sawdust matcha.
Does anyone use wooden cups and have any advice on how to season them well to be as neutral as possible. On the badly translated website I got them from (you can probably guess where) there is some garbled message about being in saline for 3 hours but I’m not sure if they meant to do that or not. Thanks
