Lapsang

Hello there. I want to hear any nominations for a strong but drinkable Lapsang any of you have had recently (re:might still be available for order). Thanks.

Xuan en Yisheg tea coop produces the one I drink, from China.

You could order it, but it would come from Ontario.

I’ve had several fairly recently that I would be happy to throw out there. If you haven’t already done so, you may want to check out the Formosa Lapsang Souchong from Simpson & Vail. It’s kind of basic, but I found it to be a hearty, rich, and robustly smoky lapsang. The Tao of Tea used to offer an organic lapsang souchong called Pine Smoked Black that I really enjoyed, but I don’t think it is still offered. I could be wrong about that, but I didn’t see a listing for it the last time I checked their website. I would also recommend both of the lapsangs offered by Mark T. Wendell. I’m not sure they would qualify as the strongest, but I found both to be rock solid. Harney & Sons offers a basic lapsang souchong that isn’t bad. I know many would disagree, but I would even recommend Adagio’s lapsang souchong. From what I’ve seen, the quality can be hit or miss, but for a cheap and accessible smoke bomb, I thought it did the trick.
