I have bought from them before. They have a reputation for selling fakes however. I still like them but that is their reputation.

Really? I looked into their reviews on teachat and people seemed pretty happy and the teas seemed to be relatively consistent with those from higher priced vendors.
Do you know which ones you heard were fakes?

I have a relatively larger order coming and I will post reviews as I try them.

Probably depends on what you’re buying. They seem not so trustworthy to buyers of supposedly-old puer tea, and purple sand tea pots.

I got what was probably a fake Dayi brick from them. They seemed to admit it was a fake. They quickly gave me a full refund. It was a 2007 Golden Needle White Lotus brick as I recall and it had all the hallmarks of a fake, especially not tasting up to the standards of a common Daiy ripe, let alone a Golden Needle ripe Dayi.

Ah ok, my order consists of some taiwanese oolongs, da hong pao, bai mu dan, and an aged Golden Bud Lao Cha Tou 90’s.

Their Taiwanese oolongs are priced rather high without any idea of where they’re sourced from or assurance of quality. I’d rather buy from a reputable tea shop like Taiwan Tea Crafts or Eco-Cha

I’ve ordered from them twice, once was teas way back when I was just starting, a flower cake, some milk oolong and long jing are all I remember getting, the Long Jing was bad. the milk oolong was really awful. I still have both of these in my cupboard because I never drank them.. The flower cake was surprisingly good, but I mostly got it for my friend, I didn’t have much interest in it. The second order was just a mini gaiwan, it took over 3 months to arrive and when I got and brewed with it once, it cracked a whole bunch.

That’s not good! Did they give you a refund? I read some reviews about the milk oolong being flavored so I stayed away from it, I ordered dong ding, alishan, lishan…. we shall see. The long jing probably wouldn’t be great unless you get higher grade. I had some delicious long jing for quite cheap in China last year… if only I brought some of that back!

I’ve tried:
Premium Li Shan Oolong
Dong Ding Oolong
Premium Da Hong Pao
Nonpareil Tie Guan Yin
Organic Premium Bai Mu Dan

The Premium Da Hong Pao was one of my favorites, strong cinnamon, roast, smoke taste, with lingering sweetness and floral notes.

The regular grade dong ding was pretty balanced and not bad for the price.

The li shan had nice mineral and mist notes but the flavors were pretty mellow. The nonpareil TGY was quite mellow.

The Bai Mu Dan is about 80-90% brown leaves, very few silver needles or green leaves and the taste is ok but not great. Their higher grades are probably far superior, this one seemed like a pretty low grade.

I would stick to YS, Taiwan Sourcing, W2T or Mandala for good Oolongs and such. Dragon is more of a Puerh seller.

Sorry to hear the new teas were bust. I think that says a lot about this vendor. My recommendation is to use one of these reputable vendors for Taiwanese oolongs in the future:

Taiwan Tea Crafts
Beautiful Taiwan Tea Company
Eco-Cha
Taiwan Sourcing

For other Chinese oolongs such as dan cong, wuyi, etc, try Yunnan Sourcing and Verdant Tea.

Thank you mrmopar and luckyme.
I tried their ORGANIC SUPREME HUANG ZHI XIANG PHOENIX FENGHUANG DAN CONG last night and it was pretty good. So far that and their premium Da hong pao have been my favorites. They haven’t been all bad, I’ve mainly been surprised by the lack of aroma and flavor with a lot of the oolongs. Their prices are good however, so I suppose if you find the right teas that they carry then you are doing well. And they have good customer service.

I just received some teas from verdant a couple days ago. I’m excited to try them out!
I also have some Taiwanese oolongs coming from eco-cha.
And some chinese greens coming from teaspring.

So I will have lots of teas to savor!

I have primarily been drinking Japanese greens the past few years so I’m happy to expand my taste/knowledge/appreciation of Chinese and Taiwanese teas.

I use it as a chinese green tea seller and if ou stick to that it’s quite good. You can also see that the have different qualities, so you can know what to expect from a cheap tea… In my opinion their supreme an ji bai pian, en shi yu lu, and bai hao yin shen are really good ones.

For Pu erh I just stick to not too old ones because my budget is quite small (recent grad still conducting internships)

Hmm, ok good to know. I really didn’t get any greens from them to try. If I ordered again I would go that route.

Tried the Laoshan Black from Verdant yesterday, it was really wonderful. So sweet and aromatic.

Another thing I would say about Dragon Tea House is that either they are slow to ship orders or the Chinese Postal Service is very slow to do the initial scan of an order. Ordered from them five days ago now and it still doesn’t show up on tracking.

Did they mark your order as shipped on DTH?
I never checked tracking with my order but I was surprised that it didn’t take super long to get here. I didn’t keep track of the time but maybe 12 days. So your order might arrive sooner than you expect!
