Official Steepster Tea of the Month Club - Would you be interested?

I would be interested as well. I already offer sample packages on Tea Trade – http://teatrade.tinypay.me/#q=user:ss0YORHB and based on my experience I have seen a lot of interest. I imagine a monthly subscription would be extremely successful. Plus, if the price is right I would be all over it. Thanks for sharing this idea.

I would be interested! I would like for the subscription to be on a month-to-month basis or to have the option of “opting out” for that month, should the product not entirely appeal to us. I also like the idea of adding special preferences. :) I wouldn’t want to go over $20/month, but would love to see it around $10. Sounds like a wonderful idea!

We haven’t worked out all of the details for our other product, which we’re using this to test, but the month-to-month and “opt out” on specifics months have been considered. We’ll have to see how all the details get worked out though.

In principal, yes, I would be interested and the range others have suggested of $10-$20 sounds reasonable depending on how large a quantity per month we’re talking about here.

I do have some caveats regarding shipping rate, however, and I’m aware that it’s very likely you’re not willing to send these out to the whole world.

I agree. This should only be something that should be implemented if there are no shipping restrictions. While shipping prices may be high, it should be up to the person to decide for themselves if they want to pay that amount or not- they need to have the option.

I agree with both Angrboda and Cofftea, but this would be a great way to try teas from companies that those outside the US (myself included) wouldn’t usually have access to.

While your right Alana237, I wasn’t thinking of this benefiting me… but rather people outside the US. I’m just thinking back to Steepster Select and there were some people who didn’t even have the option of paying high shipping costs on certain products because they don’t ship to certain countries at all. It’d be great to offer some of these products and be a middle man so these steepsters can try these products.

Ah, got you now.

I think that we would collect the teas ourselves, then redistribute them in the monthly boxes. So, assuming we’re able to set it up this way, we could potentially offer to ship wherever as long as the person wanted to pay for shipping, where as normally tea companies don’t even offer it as an option. But we’re still defining the exact details of the program, so we’ll have to see.

I love the idea of samples from various companies! I have purchased a few such packages from vendors on tea trade. it is a wonderful and fun way to try lots of teas without having to commit to a whole tin. As someone already noted, even 2oz of a tea is a lot, if it is not to your liking.

I think the $10-$15 range is reasonable, but that also depends on how many samples are included. As for sample size, in the past, I have received 1-cup samples and 4-cup samples. I find the larger sample size better as sometimes I need more than one cup to get a real feel for the tea.

Another issue I have is shipping. I live outside the US and some shipping methods can get be a bit pricey, so you would need to inquire as the most cost-effective method of shipping overseas.

Agreed on the 4 cup sample size. One cup is too little, especially if I make a mistake in steeping it, or leave it too long.

I agree. 12g samples would be perfect. That would give a person 4 3g cups (what I use for an 8oz cuppa). That way they could try it various ways: hot and cold unsweetened and hot and cold sweetened for example. I would definitely not go below 6g. 6 and 9 gram samples would also be acceptable if that meant more countries would be able to participate.

Yeah, how would this work for international customers? Would it be U.S. only? $10-$20 range seems perfectly reasonable.

See my comment above about “US only”.

I would definitely be interested as well (not that I don’t have plenty of tea!) I would be happy with small size samples – enough for one or two cups. That would be enough for me to taste it and review it, and yet small enough so that if I really like it, it would encourage me to purchase it direct from the company.

Sounds great :D

this sounds great! But I imagine that it will be US only?

Not necessarily, but we’re still working out the details.

I love the idea! I’d be willing to spend around $20 a month and agree that small sizes are the way to go. Even though I have definite tea preferences, I’m willing to go with the element of surprise to keep costs and behind the scenes work down.

Cofftea said

I guess it all depends on what’s offered. A typical tea of the month club means 1 tea is sent every month. If it’s only a 6-12g sample size, I think $20 is way too much, even if it’s organic and fair trade (and if it’s matcha, organic fair trade ceremonial grade).
