NEW CONTEST: Tea-inspired Art ($100 prize)
Thank you to all who participated last month for the great entries. You inspired us to make this a regular event. This month, the tea of the contest is: Big Red Robe. Sign up to get your samples in the mail.
Okakura Kakuzo writes in The Book of Tea: “Teaism is… founded on the adoration of the beautiful among the sordid facts of everyday existence.”
In recognition of tea as inspirational. I am sponsoring a contest for art, writing, video, music, etc inspired by tea. Check it out on my website: http://verdanttea.com/about-us-contact/tea-as-art-contest/
The contest is limited to 20 people, because Verdant Tea is sending out free samples of the Big Red Robe that we will be using for fairness. The winner gets a $100 shopping spree on verdanttea.com, but the real fun part of this is seeing how we all get different inspiration and emotion evoked by the same tea. Entries will be made public so that we can share our ideas.
I hope that some of you will register, and give me ideas for future contests that encourage tea culture. Pass this on to anybody you know who is interested. Registration deadline is October 20th.
Please keep this updated at the end of the contest with links to all of the entries!
Just entered… Looks like you have some mighty fine teas. Love to see you providing teas from the small growers. I’m interested to see what you get for entries to the contest as well!
Thanks! I am excited to see what comes of this. I love working with the small growers- it means that when I am drinking my green tea in the morning I know exactly which member of the family did the picking and which did the roasting. I am trying to get a bunch of pictures of some of the family tea gardens and their stories to put up.
Only a week left to register for the contest. I still have about 5 spots left, and look forward to sending out that Tieguanyin and seeing what people come up with.
This contest is now closed. We have some great entries. Keep in touch to see all the tea art up on the site and vote for your favorites in August.
Wow- My friends and I at Verdant Tea are very impressed with the quality of the submissions we have so far. I will post a link once we get them all up on the site, and people can check it out, vote, leave comments, etc. I might even send a link to my farmer friend who makes the Tieguanyin. I am sure that she would appreciate it.
Thanks for all the submissions. Everything is up and ready for viewing and voting on the Verdant Tea website. We are very excited by the diverse submissions, and will certainly be hosting another contest next month. Reply here if you have any requests for which tea would make a good subject.
Just a few days left to vote!
