What Drives You To Drink?

I try to drink 10 cups of tea a day, as this is what my thermos holds. I fill it with boiling water at 6:15 a.m. and by the last hour of my work day I’m usually on my last cup (sometimes I only get 8 in, though). I try to end the day with jasmine tea because it’s one of my favorites. Earlier in the day I may stick to a green: dragonwell or gunpower are my current faves. When I’m bored, I might do a tisane (but since my water isn’t boiling, I don’t get good flavor out of my favorite tisanes at work). I keep telling myself to try black tea in the morning but I keep forgetting…

You shouldn’t drink strong black tea in the morning on an empty stomach. Try after breakfast. Black tea is my favourite in the mornings after breakfast because it wakes you up and gets you ready for a beautiful day.

I agree with you that we shouldn’t drink tea on an empty stomach. It will effect the body’s absorption of proteins and other nutrients. Drinking tea while you are hungry will stimulate your gastric mucosa, causing you to lose appetite.

I reach for a cup whenever I need to take a moment to step away from the craziness of life. I don’t really take time for myself, but “teatime” is mine and no one can take it from me! I especially like to wind down with my favorite, vanilla green from Adagio. It tastes like warm vanilla cookies, no sugar or sweeteners needed. For an individual with Celiac disease like myself, this is huge!
