You are stranded on a desert island...

You are stranded on a desert island for a year with plenty of milk, sugar, and whatever else you put in your tea but you can only have one kind of tea. Price is no object because some crazy millionaire is paying for your tea and other provisions. What tea would you limit yourself to? I’m asking for one very specific brand and variety of tea. (example: Samovar Hawaiian Oolong or Rishi Organic Ancient Moonlight White or Den’s Tea Apple Sencha).

What I’m curious about is when push comes to shove, what is the one tea you could live on for a long period of time?

Organic Black with Coconut from Premium Steap! It’s sweet but not too sweet, a good black tea base, and it’s organic. It’s also the one tea that I run out to buy when it gets low – I can live without any other tea for the week or so it takes to get a refill, but with this one, I always go out and get more when I still have a few servings left.

Great question!

Holy wow this is a good discussion topic! Hands down matcha… now for the type/brand… Uji Matcha “Kiri No Mori” I think. I prefer Rishi, but I prefer it the way I had prepared for me- while I haven’t prepared Rishi’s myself, I haven’t had luck getting matcha to foam w/ the 2 brands I have tried not to mention having matcha in individual portions takes away some of the tradition for me because there’s no need for the scoop… although Adagio’s White Cucumber iced would be great to lower my body temp if the temperature got too hot and I haven’t tried cold matcha so I’m not sure how good that’d be… Will revisit this when I get my mandarin matcha from 52teas.=D

Where can I find this millionaire? I’ve had a very long period of very bad days and this seems very appealing right now lol.

I think it is like enlightenment, it is not so much that you find the millionaire as it is that the millionaire finds you. I completely understand your sentiment, though. It was my own bad day that brought me to fantasies of desert islands, millionaires, and tea. I hope your slew of bad days ends soon.

Haha! I got it. Tencha w/ a steeping vessle as well as a matcha set and Samovar’s matcha mill that way I can have steeped tea as well as matcha.

My own choice would be The Simple Leaf’s Dawn. It has replaced Golden Moon’s Sinharaja as my number one tea in my heart.

Right now, this is an easy one to answer!

Teavana’s White Ayurvedic Chai:

(Sweetened with rock sugar and softened with rice milk, s’il vous plait!)

Hm. Right now.. either Milk Oolong (I’d have to try a few other companies’ before making a decision on whose), or Adagio’s Jasmine Silver Needle. I swear I nearly had a religious experience with that tea.

Holy Mountain’s Milk Oolong was my Come to Tea moment. It steered me into the world of tea. Perhaps you should consider doing a milk oolong cage match with the varieties from the various sellers.

How about if you were on a desert island and you could only have 1 steeping vessle and one drinking vessle?

I’d bring two Rhapsodies.

Rhapsodies?

Teavana sells them, they’re double-walled glass infusing tumblers. (Mine is 16oz because I never make less than that, but they have a smaller version, too, called the Harmony.)

Here’s the link:

Since I’m mostly drinking Rooibos these days, my tea can steep as long as it takes to drink it—so this is perfect for me. (And I drink my white chai so fast that it doesn’t matter.)

I also use this for making tea to transfer into a proper travel tumbler when I’m getting into the car for a trip to town. I love it!

_edited to add that I got some jasmine blooms with my last Essencha order just because I think they’ll be so beautiful in this. :-) _

I’d want a crate of whatever the rescue ship workers like to drink.

Carolyn — I like your idea of a desert island. I’ll go with Murchie’s 1894 Blend (although I’m not sure if they make it anymore, but we are dealing with fantasy here.) Also, I’d like Peter Gabriel to serve me the tea. Think the millionaire can arrange that?

Oh dear, hard question, but I think I would have to go with any type of pu-erh, as the taste is good for any time of the day :D. Either that or Silver Needle White Tea, mmmmm
