Steepster Select November Giveaway
I don’t put too much thought into my tea’s packaging, but I have to admit I prefer getting it in tins, especially the kind with lids that lock. Adagio has some good ones that I re-use. (Their 4-oz. size.)
I put in my vote for Mariage Freres. The tins are gorgeous, the glass bottles that someone else linked to are gorgeous…I admit, I’m a sucker for an aesthetically pleasing tea container. I prefer interesting and fun to boring, assuming they keep the tea well. My first priority is really how well they keep the tea, then how aesthetically pleasing they are. I’m always a little sad to see loose tea in bags. It may keep okay, but it is awfully dull to look at.
It’s not original, but count me as another vote for the classic Harney & Sons tins.
For me, it comes down to two different companies: Harney and Sons for their elegant tins (http://www.harney.com/ and http://shop.harney.com/Details.cfm?ProdID=3870&category=0&secondary=868), and Verdant Tea for their simple, colorful and ‘earthy’ looking bags (http://verdanttea.com/shipping-faqs/). Since, amongst other reasons, I am guessing the production of their bags has a smaller impact on the environment, I think I’ll go with Verdant Tea’s packaging as having the best.
I’m also fond of Mariage Freres tins. They fit into almost any decor and they look nice sitting on the countertop. Plus, the lids stay on well.
This one is tough but I think Harney & Sons and Lupicia do it for me. Especially the art work on the tin labels Lupicia uses.
Even if I don’t own any Harney and Sons tea. I really like their tin and can’t wait to add some to my collection! They look super classic and chic. I love the simplicity of the tin and most people seem to find them really air tight.
