Cinnamon Plum by Republic of Tea was the first one where tea became a daily thing for me.

Comforting Tea by Aveda. Before that, I always was drawn to fruity teas, then got disappointed when they didn’t taste like juice. But this…naturally sweet with the licorice root and cooling with the peppermint. Delicious. I never turned back.

One bag of Earl Grey and one bag of Peppermint Harney and Sons tea (with a splash of cold soy) when I worked at early mornings at Barnes and Noble… Mmmmm

It was an evolution, not an epiphany. Strictly speaking, it wasn’t tea (Camellia sinensis) that turned me on to tea drinking. Rather, it was a tisane (an herb tea) — chamomile—followed by mujicha (roasted barley tea).

But the first real tea that hooked me was genmai cha…aka “popcorn tea” — green tea with roasted rice and little bits of popcorn. From there I went to jasmine teas of all descriptions, eventually settling on the highest quality pearls as my favorite jasmine.

When I started trying black teas, I was quickly seduced by Golden Monkey (Silk Road Teas has my current favorite), followed by Red Dragon Pearl (thepuriTea), then on to pu-erh…with the result that I am now a teaholic.

I ordered Rooibos from starbucks and after seeing the tiny needles I was amazed so I started looking into other kinds of drinks and found tea. Also, the huge presence of tea in Chinese and Japanese culture really persuaded me to try it as well
