Not to nitpick, but there is a hole near the handle where steam and condensation come into contact with plastic. Check the Amazon review for pics to see what I mean: http://www.amazon.com/Secura-Stainless-Cordless-Electric-Exterior/dp/B011BE7V8W/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

Dragon Tea House does have a legit plastic-free Kamjove kettle for about the same price: http://www.dragonteahouse.biz/kamjove-tp-600b-electric-tea-kettle-1-2l-220v-600w/

But it’s 220v so it won’t work in North America without a converter.

Hi LuckyMe.
Re: the “Secura 1.8 Quart Stainless Steel Cordless Electric Kettle.”
I saw the hole shown in the photos. The kettle is “double-walled” and Secura shows in their diagram that both the inner wall of the kettle and the outer wall of the kettle are both stainless steel. I don’t know if there is just an air space between the 2 walls to create the “insulation,” or if there is some kind of insulating “material” that is sandwiched between the 2 walls. I haven’t bought the kettle yet so I can’t look into the hole for clues. But just now I wrote to Secura asking those questions. I will post their answers as soon as they come to me.
I wanted to order it right away but I will wait for some answers first.) Thank you for your attention to detail! ;)

Suze, thanks for the info. I ended up getting the kettle and it arrived today from Amazon. First impression is this thing is huge, like twice the size of other kettles of the same capacity. It is lightweight though so that’s good.

The hole at the top does appear to have a plastic-like material. However, I’m not stressing about it because its not somewhere steam can condense and drip back down.

The kettle boils water in a hurry. 1.7 L of water comes to a rolling boil in about 7 minutes. That’s pretty impressive considering my stovetop kettle takes a full 5 minutes to boil 0.5 L of water.

The jury is out on this one so far. I’m also going to check out the Precise HeatTM 1.5 kettle. It too has zero plastic both inside and out.

I was using the glass Krups and loved it, but I have just switched to Cuisinart because I really need that larger capacity. Both are supposed to be BPA free for all parts that contact your water. I hope it is true.

Here’s another plastic free kettle that recently hit the market: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CF1G4GK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1OVSKS3TO9K0P&coliid=I3TLZA7RH72Z7M

Very similar to the 1L Bonavita gooseneck kettle. If I didn’t already have the Secura, I would totally go for this one.

Now, if they make a variable temperature one, I’ll be all over it.
