Travelling Teabox on the way! - Round 1

Today I have put together the TTB with a fairly wide selection from my cupboard.

It was dropped off at my local post office some 20 or so minutes ago, and I expect it should (hopefully!) be in the hands of the first recipient in 7-10 days.

In the meantime, take a look at what’s in store:

And no, all those tins are not going into the box. I was just sitting there packing samples. :)

When you receive the box, do feel free to drop a note here about it or take a picture or whatever you feel like.

EDIT: Also check out the original TTB thread here http://steepster.com/discuss/102-travelling-teabox to see how we all got started on this as well as the TTB group on Flickr here http://www.flickr.com/groups/travelingteabox. :)

This is so cool! I can’t wait to get it. When I looked at the pics, I thought, “I think we’re gonna need a bigger box”. Hehe :)

Yes yes, but please remember that a bigger box = higher weight = higher shipping expenses.
Please try to keep the weight constant throughout. The other one I was in started out about that size and by the time it made it to me it weighed about 2-3 kg. The person after me had to hold on to it for the better part of a month because they couldn’t afford the shipment to the next person. It’s not just your shipping expenses, it’s every person after you as well.

Shipping shouldn’t be an issue until the box leaves the States. USPS has flat rate boxes / envelopes (same standard shipping up to 70lbs). It’s $5 for a flat rate envelope so as long as everything is flat we can just stuff everything into it. From the size of the box, I think we can actually fit the container into a flat rate envelope. I’ll give it a try when it comes my way. Once shipping exceeds 5lbs (2-3kg) depending on the distance it’ll cost more than $10 to ship out. When the time comes we could just use a flat rate box which allows up to 70lbs for $10. Ahhh, we’ll deal with it when the time comes =D

Yes, but it doesn’t come directly back to me when it leaves the american continent.
PLEASE try to keep the weight of it as constant as possible throughout. Do NOT put more in than you take out.

I’d rather see it go into a flat rate box than an envelope – I imagine that the leaves would get crushed in an envelope. I just don’t know if the notebook would fit into the smallest box (which only costs $5 to ship up to 70 lbs).

The person who sends it out of the US should investigate how much it’d cost to send the smallest box on.

The address labels I put on it should be fairly easy to peel off. I figured people could just use the same box again?
Also, I’m fairly certain the person shipping out of the american continent is aware of the cost of international shipping, or they wouldn’t have volunteered to be last american stop.

@Angrboda, I have a concern about a future recipient (confirming he gave you the correct address as he moved recently) and I can’t PM you and no longer have your email address. Could you please shoot me a PM or an email as soon as you can? I just don’t want the flow of the box to get screwed up. Thanks!

You’re lucky I get email notifications about this thread or I wouldn’t have seen this at all.

That is beautiful, Angrboda! It is so neat and lovely. I agree that it is a beautiful notebook and I also agree with Vincent that it would be a nice touch if everyone who can would take photos of the box as it moves along its way.
