Favorite tea study companions...?
Starting the winter (aka the longer) semester, and am finding that even tea is not enough of an incentive to get down to work!
So I was wondering: what are your favorite teas to have by your side when you lock yourself into a study period?
(I have yet to find mine…)
I like to drink tea while I study- it makes the entire process more enjoyable. A way in which I incorporate tea into this process is by rewarding myself from a good day of study (or when I hit a studying road block) by allowing myself to go to a local tea shop and pick out a new tea. It makes a really good study break- getting out of the house, fresh air, interacting with people. It’s even more fun if you can bring a friend along to help you choose a tea. I come back to my studies feeling very refreshed (and of course so excited to start drinking my new tea)!
I awarded myself at the end of my last exam period with a tea-spree to try out all the teas that have been on my wish-list that semester, and it was wonderful! However, there is no tea shop that I can get to easily, so that would unfortunately not be a feasible break for me, even though I would so love it to be! Sounds wonderful!

@ Kay: What are you currently studying? How do you like to enjoy your tea (e.g. bags or loose-leaf, teapot or mug)?
I’m in the second semester of my master’s degree in Environmental Management, and when it comes to studying, I like the pot! Having a large pot, and pouring out small teacups full now and again help the tea stay warm for much, much longer, and having my sunshine yellow teapot next to me definately helps with my mood :)
Wow, good for you! That sounds like a very unique program. I’ve also noticed having a large pot is easier than making individual cups and does keep the tea warmer, longer.
Yerba Mate teas tend to really focus me. Though I generally prefer an oolong, especially because it can resteep!
Yeah, I like a good oolong in a gaiwan while I’m studying. I have my tea tray set up by my work station. An oolong can go all night and the ritual of each infusion can actually help me structure what I’m doing a little. It can be a little break at the end of each lecture I’ve reviewed or paragraph I’ve written.
I really like the incorporation of this into the studying routine. There is nothing like a fresh mug of tea to re-energize you and help your focus! Plus, another thing that is worth mentioning is that it’s a more healthy habit to have than having high-fat, high-sodium “study foods”.
Oh my, yes! I don’t like to think back to the days when I kept snacks at hand for studying. Needless to say it doesn’t help concentration.
