I was curious about a Teaopia/Teavana connection. Right now in Victoria, BC, we have a number of shops, and as one Teaopia opens, another DAVIDs opens. They’ve dominated the malls. Frankly, I can’t see Teavana trying to compete with DAVIDs, Teaopia, Silk Road, Murchies, etc.

I was told by a staff member at David’s that Teavana is trying to expand “up here” and David’s is trying to expand in the U.S. I loved Teavana when I first discovered it and do like Teopia also but am a David’s girl all the way.

It will be interesting to see Teavana up here I like their Chai/Chai blend but I agree with the comments about them over-sweetening and overpricing their teas. I haven’t tried too many blends from Teaopia (mostly due to a lack of them around my area) but I am definitely a David’s girl through and through (one look at my Cupboard would quantify that)

They just opened a Teavana in my town too, are yes they are currently expanding into Canada.

I haven’t tried most of Teavana’s teas, but in terms of quality they are just as good (or maybe even better depending on the tea) as DavidsTea.

They also just bought out Teaopia, FYI.

I know. That doesn’t really answer any of the original questions though.

Teavana bought out a similarly branded chain in Canada called Teaopia I believe for somewhere around $40million. They acquired all of their stores in order to expand into the Canadian marketplace.
