Stash/Cupboard Pictures
I might post a pic of my collection of teas as soon as I figure out how to with the webcam on my laptop….lol. I don’t have alot of teas (YET!) But I am ok with that. I did love looking at everyone’s pictures of their stashes, and am lusting after a few of the cabinets and hutches! I have my tea in a hutch but it was a put together one from Meijer’s and has the microwave, and pots and pans underneath. But it is a lovely hunter green so I still like it. I currently am sharing my household with my Dad and occasionally my Step Mom, (long story!) so am limited with space, not to mention cash flow!

Nice organizing and oh my goodness so many tiny yixing pots! Can I ask where you got most of them, in the States, China, a store, online?
Autumn Hearth, Some of the pots have been gifts brought to me from China, others have been bought online (one is from yunnan sourcing, the other from redblossom tea co).
Azzrian, I don’t know if by yixing tray you mean the tea tray, but it’s actually made of bamboo. Wish I had a yixing tray though :)

Yes sorry lol the Bamboo tray – I should know not to post when I am still waking up. Haha but yes I have been looking for a good bamboo tray. I see a few that are close to what I want and those I want cost a small fortune. Just curious where you obtained yours. :)
I got it from a store in LA’s Chinatown. It was pretty cheap compared to trays from other places.
Mike I totally forgot about these photos and was looking on Ebay for a tea tray – the one I want looks EXACTLY like yours – is your sandalwood?
OOO! Mike, where did you get the Diamond Jubilee tin with the Queen’s picture on it? I want one, plus I do enjoy the tea inside.
Heh I actually found that in a Marshalls in their home/kitchen dept. Usually you find teabags and some old tea, but this one was found what? like a month after the jubilee had passed? so I quickly snatched it up, pretty good English breakfast if you ask me.
Maybe I’ll go to their website and see if they have any left. English Breakfast inside? Well, that’s ok.
lol, the last hour has been a real trip. Called a Marshall’s store about 30miles away, they were sold out. She said call Home Goods, but they didn’t know what I was talking about. So I’ve been online ever since looking for that tin. The only place I could find it was from some place called “Global Source”, for $20 plus s/h BUT, sounds like there may be customs charges or something on top of that. So I tried finding a US source. Amazon.com had one for $6.45, but it could only be ordered as an “Add On Item” of an order of $25 or more! Plus it was the red one. Oh, Ebay had a blue one, but it sounded as tho the listing was no longer viable anymore plus the seller was out of town for awhile. I give up.
Out of curiosity, how long does a Pu’erh cake stay good? I mean I know they have to age for a long time, but after it’s been aged how long?
Very dependent on storage, but unless you have a lot of money or connections, you’re unlikely to get access to tea old enough to where you want to slow down the aging. It’s not so much “after it’s been aged”, because the tea keeps aging and changing over time. There is some point where continued exposure to air and humidity may cause the tea to lose some of its durability (i.e., how long it can brew) and complexity.
I have heard of folks starting to wrap teas that are maybe 70 or 80 years old in plastic to try and slow down their aging somewhat. Most of the teas of that age have seen some humid storage in their lifetimes. And plenty of teas from the turn of the (20th) century are still excellent.
I have never had the good fortune to have tea quite that old, but I’ve had some tea that’s credibly from the 1920s or 1930s, and I don’t have any complaints about it having aged too long.
I have a small collection for sure. But, it’s growing.

I have been working on this since Saturday I got this awesome
Dresser at a yard sale and then made the magnetic tea bored , just fell I love with the fabric at Joann fabric and found the frame for $8 at good will, I repainted it black to make the fabric pop! Then I filled my drawers with tea and crafts :) this really makes the room look fun and inviting :) and just makes me want to have a cup of tea!!
here is ours http://www.flickr.com/photos/85876742@N03/7868031126/ top shelf loose middle pu-erhs 357 grams or bigger third 250 to 50 gram cakes and 5 gram touch,last shelf brewing equipment and keurig coffee storage. this is just a part we have backups of most of the 100 gram cakes and other duplicates elsewhere.i am expecting a bamboo tray and a yixing pot and cup set to be added when it arrives.
yeah the brown boxes have pu-erh in the i got them from mandala tea. most of the pu-erh on that shelf have envelopes that the seller shipped them in. i got the boxes for the ones that did not have an envelope to store them in. no duplicates on the shelf.
OK now I want your address and when will you be gone so that I can ‘dust’ the pu-erh?! Wow!
bonnie you will be welcome anytime for tea at chez moi. if you ever get out here we will do tea.
This was mine…back in June. It has now overflowed to the neighboring dresser, the top of the bookcase, a bar table I’m storing for a friend, and my computer desk on the other side of the room. I need to make more space on the bookcase ASAP!

that’s just the tea itself. Teaware has its own area. On the lowest shelf in the picture you see my sweeteners (not really used by me, they’re mostly there for when I make tea for others), my wooden tea chest with all my bagged teas (I have a matching one with home-filled sachets of my favourite loose leaf varieties, and it lives at work), all of my sample sets, and measuring devices. I had probably 80 varieties at the time the picture was taken. I’ve definitely expanded since!!

May I ask where you got the copper lidded tin on the far right of the top shelf from? I have a soft spot for copper.
it came with the tea that’s in it, at a little tea shop in Victoria BC. Stress Relief, from Tea Affair. They have a website – www.tea-affair.com and are based out of calgary. You might find more info there :)

One drawer each for (top to bottom): Black, Green, Herbal, White, Oolong, Herbs/Flowers/Ingredients
It’s more or less organized by how often I drink, top to bottom, and it’s right next to my desk so I can just reach over and grab the pouch I want :)
