"Perfect Cup Of Tea" Spoon

Has anyone used one of these? I’m thinking of getting one because I have a coupon to a place that sells them. But I can’t find any information on how much it measures out. I would assume it is a teaspoon, but I would like to know for sure.

Nope that is nothing like the one I have – sorry. Although it may be a good thing :)

I have 3 different ones (one from Teavana that I got for free, one from Talbotts that came in a gift set, and the last from a local bulk tea seller). Mine all measure out 1 1/2 tsp.

My local tea seller version looks just like the one in the link.

Yeah I’ve got one of those, they’re great for smaller leaf teas or rolled teas, but horrible for longer leaf “fluffy” teas

I just use a set of round and oval measuring spoons. The oval ones are particularly careful for the longer, fluffier teas.

You can get one for free from Teavana with your order. Just use a coupon code. I’ve done it twice for two free spoons.

When you use the code make sure the spoon shows up and is 0.00 in your list.

Yeah, it’s just a teaspoon and a half, really. I have one (had two, sent one to a friend). Actually, we got another on the three-spoon set Missy got from Culinary teas, which has a 1, 2, and 4 ‘perfect’ spoon sizes. And a cute little teapot widget holding them together.

Why is the ‘perfect’ teaspoon bigger than a standard teaspoon? Because our measurement systems are all screwy.

A ‘cup’ of a hot beverage is 6 ounces (though I’ve heard 5.5 somewhere too). A real measuring cup is 8 ounces. A teaspoon is how much tea you need for a 6 ounce cup. A perfect teaspoon is how much tea you need for an 8 ounce cup.

;)

I new the perfect teaspoon is good for an 8oz cup (after all, 8z=1 cup, metric) but I didn’t know all of this extra confusion haha.

True, Dylan. Teas vary in leaf size, and the tisanes might have some rather large pieces in them! There’s no perfect teaspoon size, from what I’ve experienced.

The perfect “teaspoon” is a digital scale, lots of patience, and experimenting with different tea to water ratios

Thanks for everyone’s replies! They all really helped. I understand that there isn’t going to be a magic spoon that makes tea perfect, and each person has a different way for perfect tea. But it seems the general opinion is that these hold 1.5 tsps, which is exactly what I wanted to know.
