Morning teas

Hi Everyone
I am new to group – I have been drinking loose tea for years and I am looking for good morning tea – that has some kick to it — I have been on a search for great morning tea that gets me going – any ideas ? the mate teas I have tried and they really don’t seem to give a good kick just more of a gentle nudge

Yorkshire Tea is said to be a good substitute for coffee. Others here can give you more exotic ones to try I’m sure.

Hi, JulieH09. I honestly don’t know what to say. Mate has more caffeine than true tea, and they both have that “gentle-nudge” approach to energizing you. Maybe try mixing coffee with your tea?

I will have to check them out or blending – I have never done it before – but that maybe good idea – thanks

I agree with forsythia, Yorkshire is my morning cup usually, not always, depends on how sleepy I am but its great for just getting up and going with an easy brew! I even use teabags of it for simplicity for those mornings I can’t get motivated to use my kettle!
I was a heavy HEAVY coffee drinker before, and I mean strong stuff, Turkish coffee made the traditional way, moka from a moka pot, etc.

If you’re into it, I’ve started drinking Matcha in the morning.
No other tea has such a quick kick to it – honestly in minutes I’m full of energy and ready to go!

It’s certainly a lot different than coffee though n_n;

I totally agree with this! Matcha really gets you going! Plus it’s so tasty and versatile!

Missy get off my daisy chain! LOL

What’s up with that, I don’t get cookies every morning! :P

If you make me matcha every morning I’ll make sure you can have cookies every morning.

haha I would totally do it!
Seriously… I just use a milk frother so it takes me like 5 seconds – so yes! If I could I would my dear :D

Somehow this thread has inspired me to make matcha cookies. Which I will eat with a matcha latte.

Oh man do it – Matcha shortbread is my faaave

ok, I did it. :) I love matcha shortbread as well, but I do hate baking with tons of butter since it makes me feel so bad about eating my own sweets. :( I made matcha amaretti instead. No added fat in the cookie! It’s just almond, sugar, and egg. That’s it! I added a spoonful of matcha and it’s just so yummy. Matcha and almond are like secret best friends. :)

Wow that sounds amazing! Yummeh. Must find a way to put matcha in everything now.

I put butter in everything so I might be a bad influence lol.

I drink different teas depending on my mood that morning. But if you want to wake up drink dark tea, I’m not sure what you meant for “kick” if flavor wise or more in waking you up. If you want to wake up but love green tea flavor I would agree with Daisy and go with matcha (there even some flavored matcha tea out there.

If you want a FLAVOR kick then go for Masala tea (Masala Chai) some people call it Chai for short. You can make your own by getting a basic english black tea, add : cinnamon, clove, cardamom and ginger to taste. That will wake you up plus have a kick to it.

I go for DAVIDs Cream of Earl Grey… but I’m really sensitive to caffeine, and mate actually gives me the jitters, so I can’t drink it too often.

I drink either Earl Grey or Darjeeling in the mornings (if I want something floral) or I have Good Morning Chai by Yogi which is a wonderful cinnamon, cardamom, chicory blend that is truly delicious. It wakes you up in the morning whilst leaving your breath fresh.

so far my fave “kick” tea is Queen Catherine from Harney & Sons. It’s like five kicks in the rear!!
