Tea Blending

Do you make your own blends? Just for yourself/friends or do you sell them for profit? Mine can be found here:

Most of the flavored teas I blend are from the Metropolita Tea Company Ltd. They use a beautiful Ceylon base for their flavored black teas which makes it easy to blend flavors. If the tea is already preblended, I look at the flavoring notes, and might double one of the flavors to alter the signature taste of the tea. I’m not in selling mode yet, just experimentation mode, so my blends are two cups at a time – with most combinations maxing out at a blend of 2-3 different teas. I started doing this recently due to strong cravings for new flavor combinations that echoed my old time favorites. So far my earl grey mixes beautifully with fruits, and/or chocolate, or vanilla. Fruit/Fruit combinations are great or Fruits with chocolate or vanilla. Sometimes if a tea is preblended with black teas from different gardens, I won’t mix it with anything else, because that blend is worthy of being truly appreciated on its own. Perhaps that is the key to custom blending is knowing when to stop adding, and knowing when to not add anything in the first place. ;)

Chocolate/caramel (w/ or w/o chai spices) and chocolate/rose are my two favorite combos:)

I just found www.designatea.com… I’m definitely going to be using this! Too bad you can only blend 2 flavors:( But I LOVE that you can add herbs! a chocolate, rum, and rose petal green tea anyone?:)

Cool that herbs can be added. You can always mix in extra teas from your “cupboard” once you receive the order in the mail. :)

Eh yeah, but I like it to be good as bought. Especially if it’s a blend I create.
