I found out that white teas from Fujian area of China are okay for my doctor’s orders… I had thought I’d have to swear off all teas for the most part due to my restrictions, so yay!

I am getting low on Organic Dragon Pearl Jasmine so I went to Red Blossom Tea to order more, only to find out they’re out of stock… so I bought the Dragon Pearl Jasmine Supreme which I like but not as much and the Phoenix Eye Jasmine. 2oz each.

From Teavivre I bought samples of:

Fengqing Raw Pu-erh Cake Tea 2006 Paddy Flavor

Ripened Aged Pu-erh Mini Tuocha

Fengqing Golden Buds Ripened Pu-erh Cake Tea 2005

for the days I finish all my water and am allowed a cup of higher caffeine tea.

Holy, moley! That must be every black tea they carry!

Their samples are very reasonably priced.

I haven’t heard much about their fruit teas, but I am thinking they may be good to blend with other teas to add some interesting flavor.

Lindsay said 2012-06-18 21:29:01 -0400

The Blueberry fruit tea is damn good iced, and REALLY good in blueberry pancakes :D

Small
Azzrian said 2012-06-18 21:30:20 -0400

Yeah I use the fruit teas to marinade my meats! :) HAHA but darn good as iced tea too !

Small
Dylan Oxford said 2012-06-18 22:16:54 -0400

Well, it was every black tea they had (other than the big pearls), and then they added another keemun! So I’m missing one for my collection ;)

Azz actually sent us a sample of the blueberry fruit tea, otherwise I would have probably passed it up. And it was so good!

Small
wokeupfuzzy said 2012-06-19 01:20:50 -0400

Dylan – I’m getting an order from them soon of mostly new greens, but am interested in your reviews of the blacks – especially how the 3 Keemuns compare. I might get one in the next order.

I ordered the big Dragon Pearls – Adagio has some that I really loved (yes, I said Adagio), so I will do a comparison. It’s probably the most chocolatey/mocha tasting black that I’ve ever had.

Also – how long does it take to arrive? I paid for the 6-10 day shipping, so hopefully it gets here soon.

Small
Dylan Oxford said 2012-06-27 22:23:33 -0400

Well, I’m not sure how long it takes to arrive. I didn’t pay for the 6-10 day shipping… but honestly, it’s coming from China. There are so many variables with customs and international transfers that I really don’t want to ‘expect’ my tea within a certain timeframe, if that makes sense. I realize that business and such deals with these sort of things like clockwork… but I don’t know. It just seems unsteady, and I know that if I paid for 6-10 day shipping, and it got hung up in customs (for example), I’d feel ‘cheated’, even though there really wasn’t anything Teavivre could do about it. Just trying to manage my own expectations :)

Babble said 2012-06-27 22:38:43 -0400

I had some Teavivre samples sent to me on Jun 13 and I still have not received them either. And the tracking info is pretty useless.

My Fong Mong tea samples, which also were shipped from China, arrived promptly.

Small
wokeupfuzzy said 2012-06-27 23:43:53 -0400

My Teavivre package actually arrived in great time – less than 10 days for sure – however, my stupid post office left me no notification that they had tried to deliver it, so it sat around in the PO for a while. The only reason I found out it was here was via the tracking info.

For me tracking was only updated the first day or two, and then not again until it arrived. Anyways, I never get bent out of shape about tracking anymore because it is often unreliable.

But overall service on the Teavivre side was great.

Kittenna said 2012-06-27 23:57:02 -0400

It took nearly a month for me to receive my first package of Teavivre samples. I didn’t pay attention to the dates of the second batch, but it was likely around 3 weeks or so. If people/companies are willing to ship things for free, I don’t care how long it takes for it to arrive (within reason, of course – my expectations from China/Taiwan are much different than my expectations from North America!)

Asking for volunteers to look in my cupboard and see if I need to add anything. I just purchased 22 samples from Adagio but I wonder if I am missing out on any “must haves” teas. I am only 12 days old as far as becoming obsessed. Before then it was like store bought iced black tea or the occasional convenience store iced green.

Side note. I was really excited to get the 22 cool little tea tins….I received 3 tins. The rest of the teas came in pouches that do not seal well. Anyone have 19 spare tins? ;0)

Small
Azzrian said 2012-06-19 16:08:31 -0400

Yeah its sometimes difficult to tell if you will get a tin with a tea or not. Usually the smaller sizes do not come with one – not always but usually. Adagio’s bags actually zip quite well and are sometimes more air tight (bags) than tins depending on the tins you have.

I can only speak for myself but I purchase my own tins to keep my favorite teas in – those that don’t come with their own.

There is a tea storage link somewhere I will find and link to ya.

Here is a good one although you can search Tea Storage or Tea Tins and get a lot of other threads too!

Enchanted Forest Sencha/Mate Green Tea – 50 Grams
Red Vineyard Peach/Strawberry Black Tea Blend – 50 Grams
Lime Deluxe Green/White Premium Tea Blend – 50 Grams
Sencha Green Apple/Kiwi Green Tea Blend – 50 Grams
Sencha Honeydew/Lemon Green Tea Blend – 50 Grams

why do they all have backslashes?! I have a type.

And then also I ordered the Butterbeer Black Tea and the one each of the Bubblegum and Razzleberry iced tea pouches.

It really IS a great deal I am totally considering it but want to save up for two yixing pots! SIGH

Small
momo said 2012-06-27 01:22:12 -0400

I’m doing a marketing study on Thursday so I figured a little tea couldn’t hurt (though I guess over 300g isn’t a little, oh well). Except it’s an hour worth of the study in tea already LOL and I want to order from DavidsTea again. And I want a yixing too, but I can’t decide if I should just stick to my gaiwan for my oolongs. I am in love with the one shaped like a dragon that Teavana has but it’s way too big.

Small
Azzrian said 2012-06-27 01:26:34 -0400

I am getting my yixings from Mandala Teas one reason is they are affordable, second and most important they are reputable and use the right kind of clay / sand – the purple stuff – hey I don’t claim to really understand it but they are also recommended by David Ducker of Verdant so I am going that route. My only confusion is if I need one for Shu and one for Sheng pu-erh which I think I do but can’t seem to get an answer to that one. Either way I can always use more than one :)
I should be able to get them tomorrow so Im excited :)
They are not fancy – as I too love the “pretty” ones but I want to be sure that I am drinking the best teas out of the right tea pots and can’t afford the “real” yixing pots that are highly decorative.
Enjoy your teas and good luck on the study!

momo said 2012-06-27 01:38:03 -0400

There’s apparently a place a bit north of here that sells them, but I’m way too lazy to make the drive. I will probably look there first though if I do decide to get one.
Thank you, enjoy your teapots! I hope they come tomorrow! I’m hoping to be asked to stay for the third hour so I get over $100. I have no idea what I’m going to be asked about other than “sports” and I can’t wait to find out more.

Small
Azzrian said 2012-06-27 01:49:39 -0400

Small
Azzrian said 2012-06-27 17:55:18 -0400

I kept adding and taking things out of my cart until the shipping was what I was willing to pay / could afford. I mean either way it is still an EXCELLENT deal as long as the tea is decent but I was really tight on the budget at the time. So yeah my shipping was wacko back and forth too.
