Drinking tea at work

Does anyone have any favorite teaware accessories for using at work? For me its Rishi Tea’s Ceramic Infuser, its the closest I can get to ‘gong fu’ but at work!

I made a slideshow of some of my favorite teaware, http://exm.nr/LQ2URj feel free to share what you use at work! I’m always looking for cool new things to take to the office.

Death to the cheap breakroom teabag!

Yes, I have several tea cups similar to the Rishi Tea Travel Thermos. At the office, I use one as a steeping vessel; and another as decanting vessel. I then pour the tea into a glass to drink; since it stays too hot in the thermos. I use a bunch of them in this way to prevent the leaves from stewing too long.

When I take in university lectures or classes, I opt to bring one of these cups along, for all-day brewing; plus bring along some of my favorite teas. However, many teas don’t hold up well to all-day brewing/stewing; Yancha, Tieguanyin, black teas and pu-erh teas work well though. I would stay away from white teas or green teas.

A glass infuser teapot works pretty well too – but I don’t bother with them because they’re delicate, and I can’t take it with me when I go out.

I use the Noble from DAVIDsTea: http://www.davidstea.com/accessories/travel-mugs-2/noble-glass-travel-mug

Usually I brew it and then just pour the tea into the mug, but I keep little single-serve tins in my bag for if I’m down on campus or somewhere… then I’ll just get hot water at the coffee shop and steep on-the-go. Sometimes if I’m at work I’ll use the microwave (since the hot water heater in break room is naaasty) but I don’t particularly like the way it tastes.

I have a Lock & Lock tea bottle that I mainly use for stuff I drink straight either hot or iced. I really like it, except that I wish there was more room to get my hand in it for washing.

I also have a Bodum mug with a solid metal basket infuser which works all right, though I wish there was more room in the basket. I will probably pick up an extra mesh basket eventually.

I like the look of the Noble – that might have to go on my wish list.

I have two Perfect Tea mugs from Davids Tea, which I use at work all day every day.

It’s a privilege to have accessible, good filtered hot water at work, so I bring a couple bags or tins of tea with me and fill up throughout the night. The strainer is quite handy, one of the best I’ve used. It also fits my other mugs, which is a bonus.

I really like that Perfect Tea Mug, I’m going to New York in September, I’m actually going to make it a point to visit Davids tea, I hear nothing but good things about that place!

I use a Bodum 4 cup French Press. Clean up is usually little more than remove plunger and tap a couple times. I use a Finum filter basket for rooibos/honeybush at home. I should get one for work at it works really well.

A friend suggested I set up some kind of water still like they had on the show MASH! Wouldn’t that be something?

This would certainly peek co-workers interest in trying tea. I love this idea!

I know! Now to try it…on a small scale!

I’m all about those tea bag filters, as I like different teas and infusions throughout the day. I just use the VarieTea kettle (or a water heater for black tea) to boil my water. Once in while I’ll use a tea bag tea, but usually you can find me working a cuppa green tea with a filter bag. It’s also a great way to convert coworkers to tea! :)

I also have a ceramic tea infuser mug, I got it in Chinatown. It seems to work well for most things but I also have a mesh strainer because the holes in the infuser mug strainer are a bit large…

I use my DT timolino and a DT thermometer and timer. I can make perfectly timed and warmed tea, and if I get busy I just chuck the lid back on the timolino and it stays hot for ages!
