Are you sweet or unsweet?

Do you sweeten your tea? If so, with what? I can’t stand sweetened tea so I never order iced tea when I go out to eat except at Subway because I know it’s unsweetened.

Yes, I sweeten my tea. I can’t help it, I grew up in the south and that’s what I was trained to do. My husband is trying to break me of that habit.

I always drink my tea plain. NEVER put anything in them.

Not milk in chai?

No…not milk in chai…unless I buy it at a place that already puts milk in it…but I don’t add milk in loose leaf chai, no

Some studies have shown that adding milk reduces the benefits of tea. See article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16540633/ns/health-diet_and_nutrition/

I also rarely drink milk with chai. At a tea shop I love the traditional chai latte with milk, but I always mess it up at home so rarely bother.

No sweeteners or milk or any other additives in my tea ever. I like naturally flavored teas like jasmine though.

Jasmine is AMAZING! You don’t even put milk in your chai?

No, never 8)
If tea seems to be too strong tasting to me I just brew it lighter next time.

I do both. Chai and coffee are the only ways I drink milk lol. But sometimes I just don’t want the milky texture or don’t want calories in my drink. It’s odd, I don’t sweeten my chais at home, but my FAVORITE non latte drink at Starbucks is a tall double shot double pump (each) caramel and mocha americano w/ 2 chai tea bags.

I never put anything in my tea, including strong stuff like Irish Breakfast. I drink it neat. Whenever I put sugar in it, I can immediately taste the sweetener, and it tastes ridiculously artificial on my palate.

I seek out teas of a sweeter flavor (peach-flavored tea, jasmine teas, etc) so adding more sweetener on top of that would be overwhelming!

As much as I say I don’t sweeten even my chais, I am really tempted to try these:

Yes I add sugar I can’t drink tea without added a sweetner. But I don’t use the artifical ones.

I like to think of myself as sweet ;) but I don’t usually add anything to my tea. I’m a purist (for no good reason other than I like to say that).

Aw, I was going to say that. You beat me to it.

You know what they say. Great minds think alike…but apparently they still can’t figure out how to live in the “correct” country to avoid terrible shipping costs :P (they just keep coming to me!!)

Yeah, you’d think with all those tea places, more of them would have enough brain cells to live over here… Obviously true genius is a rare occurence.

I drink my tea straight, almost always.
Sometimes I mix a dot of milk into an Assamese tea, not because I can’t handle the bite, but because milk works amazingly well with Assams.
Sugar is used exclusively with two of lupicia’s flavored blacks – their vanilla and Chocolat Marron – and mates. It goes good with Matevana, especially when I’m sick, and I brew my yerba mate in a french press usually, so I’ll add sugar to the first cup to adjust my mouth to the flavor.

Aside from that, I can’t stand sugar in tea. It definitely stands out, and I can’t handle it.

I agree. Drinking tea shouldn’t make you feel like your teeth are rotting.

A few “rocks” of crystal sugar just enough to let me know it’s in there. No milk.
