Harney and Sons Tea

Does anyone love Harney and Sons tea? If so, what’s your favorite? I’m looking for a new tea to try.

I’ve gotten a few teas from them and I enjoy most of them. I have a few teas by them and two of my favorites are their Japanese Sencha ($12 for 4oz) and their Snow Dragon ($9.35 for 1.5oz). Both are green teas. I don’t enjoy dark teas and so I cannot help you if you’re looking for recommendations for darker teas like their oolongs and their black teas.

Edit: I notice you have Bangkok in your cupboard. If you enjoyed that tea from H&S then you will enjoy a new one they have out called Love Life. It’s a flavored green tea, it only comes in the sachets though, I don’t know if that bothers you or not.

I love the Bangkok tea! It’s great so I wouldn’t mind trying more green teas. I am mostly new to drinking tea and I started off with mostly black tea. So far I only use sachets but I would love to start buying loose teas. I am buying a tea pot this weekend and I’m so glad about it because now I can have opportunities to try teas that they only sell for loose tea. I will definitely put your suggestions on my list of teas to try. Thank you!

I’ve only purchased two tins of Harneys so far, so am not a good one to judge them. The teas I did buy, one is too sweet and candy-like for me (Royal Wedding), the other is very good (Diamond Jubilee). Both came in sachets only, tho, and I do prefer loose.

Erika M. said

I have yet to try either of these teas but I’ve heard really reviews for the Diamond Jubilee. One of the teas that I’ve drank recently is the Royal English Breakfast and I’ve been so curious about the taste of the Royal Wedding. I don’t mind sachets as I’ve only had experience with sachets. Do you have any tips about brewing loose tea for novices?

Of the H&S teas I’ve tried, Bangkok and Tokyo are great iced, and I really, really fell in love with their SoHo blend (chocolate and coconut!). I’ve heard many good things about Boston, Paris, and Florence as well, and I found them enjoyable (preferred Boston, I think) as well.

I’ve heard rave reviews about the Paris tea. I really love Bangkok and have yet to taste it iced. I really would like to try the Soho Blend! I honestly think that will be the first loose tea that I will try. I’m so excited to visit the Soho shop for the first time in a couple of weeks. I’ll definitely buy it when I visit.

Yes, try cold-brewing Bangkok for sure! And if you like chocolate and coconut, SoHo is a must-have – sounds like you’re heading to the right store to pick it up :D

After falling in love with the taste of coconut in tea because of Bangkok, I’m just excited to taste Soho because I love chocolate too. It just seems like something that I must try together. :)

They have quite a different variety! Lots of stuff! What kind of tea do you like?

I’ve tried quite a few and I currently own the Puttabong FF, Russian Country, Old Fir Dong Ha Po and Thai Rooibos. You might want to start with Paris, it’s very popular, a lightly flavored bergamot.

Well I’ve recently started drinking tea. I love black teas and green teas so far. Eventually I would like to try white teas and oolongs. They have so many teas to choose from…it’s hard to decide what to try next. I really would like to try Paris. I think I’ll like it because I have enjoyed Earl Grey in the past.

I enjoy H&S’s loose leaf teas.
I have tried a few of their selections and have thought them all to be good quality.
My favorite’s so far is their Paris tea ( a flavored black tea ) and their Dragon Pearl Jasmine Tea.
But, they have quite a selection that includes pretty much everything.
Personally, I foresee that my tea cupboard will always have 2-3 tins from H&S’s in it:-)

I absolutely love the quality of H& S teas! I have three teas that I’ve bought recently: Royal English Breakfast, Green Tea with Thai Flavors, and the Titanic Blend. But I know it won’t last that long. I love their tea and I drink it often. Paris seeks to be a popular recommendation, so I will definitely add it to my list. What kind of tea is their Dragon Pearl Jasmine?

Oh, yummy! Those are some tasty teas that you have:)
Dragon Pearl Jasmine is a green rolled leaf tea that has been infused with the scent of Jasmine.
If you do not like floral teas or hate jasmine this is not for you.
But, just smelling this tea causes me to melt:)
Here is the steepster reviews on it:

Can’t wait to see the teas you choose to try!

The only floral tea that I have had so far is Chamomile tea. I really love it…I usually drink it once a day. I wouldn’t mind trying some more floral tea in the future.

I’ve only tried one Harney and Sons tea/tisane; Organic Passion Plum. It’s pretty good :)

I’ve been curious recently about the taste of an organic tea. It sounds good! I was wondering if there is a noticeable difference of taste and benefits to drinking organic teas instead of regular teas. Thank you for the recommendation!

A lot of good ones have been recommended already, but if you like citrusy greens I’d try their Lemony Gunpowder. One of the more overlooked blends, but it’s tasty and very cheap at the H&S store. Actually, most of their flavored/scented blends are much cheaper in-store than online, since they price by the pound.

The lemony gunpowder is great! It also makes a good iced tea.

That’s a great tip. I’m looking to try loose teas and it would be great to buy tea by the pound. Alpha Kitty, I was reading your review and this would be a great morning tea. I’m not much of a morning person so this tea would be great!

I think it would be a great morning tea—caffeine + a kick of lemon is sure to get you awake!

I’ve only tried about 7 Harney Teas and my favorites are the unique unflavored Queen Catherine and Palm Court blends. My favorite flavored blend is Florence.

Erika M. said

I’ve gotten recommendations about Florence. I haven’t heard of your other suggestions before…Thanks for your suggestions. I’m definitely going to look up some reviews. :)

I LOVE the Hot Cinnamon Sunset tea I’ve tried from them! It was perfect cinnamon and also almost tasted sugary but I don’t think it had sugar in it. I’ve been searching for a slightly cheaper place to buy it..

Erika M. said

Hot Cinnamon Sunset is my absolute favorite! I love it! I don’t put any sugar either. It’s just great just the way it is. It’s the first H&S tea that I tried and I’ve been buying their tea since then…
