Harney and Sons Tea

Well, of course, I am most fond of Yellow tea, so I guess I would be remiss not to mention their Yellow teas… the ones that I’ve tried are amazing: Hu Shan Yellow Buds and Junshan YinZhen. As far as blends go, my two favorites are Paris and Indian Nimbu, and an honorable mention goes to the Hot Cinnamon Spice.

Oooh I love yellow tea, at least the one I’ve tried. Putting those on my shopping list.

I really enjoy Harney and Sons tea – their Dragon Pearl Jasmine is some of the best best jasmine tea I’ve ever drank. Another good one is Florence which is a chocolate-flavoured black tea. Their Wuyi Yancha oolong is also very nice.

If you’re interesting in learning about H&S teas (I’m a fan of many, btw), suggest you follow ashmanra, who is reviewing a bunch of them recently!

I am a huge fan of Harney & Sons. For reference, I am usually a black tea drinker. Favorites of mine are Keemun Mao Feng, SoHo Blend (the chocolate and coconut one), Malachi McCormick, Palm Court (which is the same as Titanic, I think), Paris, Lychee, Earl Grey Supreme, and pretty much all the versions of Hot Cinnamon.

So far, I seem to love a couple of H&S black teas. They are great…I love the strong flavors. I definitely want to buy some more. :)

Malachi McCormick! ooh, there’s one I haven’t tried yet!

I love Paris and the Pomegranate Oolong. I have another pomegranate oolong and it’s nowhere near as good as Harney and Sons’.

I saw you said you’re going to the shop in NYC, if you have a smartphone, get the Scoutmob app and you can get 50% off. It expires 7/23, but you get $10 off max which is pretty awesome.

That’s so great…thank you for posting this. I’m definitely going to download this app! :)

I second both Paris and Pomegranate Oolong. Two of my favorites from Harney’s. (I also enjoy the Chocolate Mint.)

Agreed on Paris and Pom Oolong! Two of my favorites!

I’m surprised no-one mentioned Tower of London or Vanilla Comoro (or I missed it, sorry!). I won’t order from them any longer due to a bad shipping experience with them in the past, but of the teas I’ve tried they have good quality. Golden Snail was a favourite of mine as well, but I think that is basically gone for good. : (

I don’t think that anyone did mention Tower of London or Vanilla Comoro. May I ask what was the bad shipping experience? I have yet to order from their website online. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to find some in local stores but there are some that I would like to buy in the future without having to go to one of their shops.

I live in Canada. Suffice it to say that their shipping and dealings with Canadian customers is not always as friendly as it is with the American ones – to pay more for less service isn’t something I appreciate. You can see reviews of their online dealings (both positive and negative) here: http://steepster.com/places/2779-harney-and-sons-online-millerton-new-york
Another Canadian steepster (Bigelow/Aisling of Tea) had quite an experience with them but I don’t think she recorded it on the “place” and I’m not sure how many months or years back in her tealog that would be. I don’t aim to scare you off – if you live in the US it seems you will be well taken care of, and the tea is great. : )

So which stores carry Harney and Sons anyway?

Yeah, I think Vanilla Comoro is on my shopping list! I love anything vanilla… but I haven’t tried this one yet.

Well Barnes & Noble carries the Historic Royal Palaces teas in their cafe. I live near Poughkeepsie and there’s a store called Adams Fairacre Farms. Their locations ( I think that they have 4 stores) sell about 10 different teas. It honestly depends on where you live. You could post via their twitter or facebook page and they can help you find a location locally. They were really helpful.

Oh if you live near a Whole Foods store, I heard that they sell some of their teas too!

I have 48 of their teas on shelf right now! I have black, flavored black, green, flavored green, oolong…I guess you could say I am a fan of theirs! My favorites are Queen Catherine, Boston, Anniversary Blend, Paris, Tower of London, Vanilla Black, Vanilla Comoro, Hunan Yellow Sprout, Keemun Mao Feng, English Breakfast, and Earl Grey Supreme. At least, that is all I can think of right now! For most of their teas you can order samples, and they have a rewards program that helps me out a lot. Sign up for their emails, which are not very frequent – they don’t inundate your inbox – and you will get coupon codes pretty regularly! Their gift boxes are classy, beautiful, and easy to send, exciting to receive!

Yeah, I’d definitely say you’re a fan of H&S. I signed up for their e-mails… How does their rewards program work?

ETA: And when you mean samples, do you mean the 5 teabag “tagalongs”? For one example, 5 teabags are $3.50 and then 20 teabags are $6.95.

ETA: I just saw the samples, but those are still 50 cents a cup.
