Hello! I'm a newcomer!

Hi! I just sighed up for Steepster!

I’m not new to it, I’ve been stalking you all for a couple weeks. I can really feel the passion for tea from all of you. Is there anything I should know before I do anything dramatic? I don’t want to bring up coffee and bring an onslaught of angry Tea-Folk, for example. Not that any of you would do that….. :)

Welcome! I am fairly new to Steepster also – only a month or two. I’ve found people here to be very kind, open, helpful and encouraging. No question or topic is dismissed, so don’t be afraid to post something.

Also, for many years I have enjoyed both coffee and tea in my life, and I think others are the same. Just because one is “pro-tea” does not mean they are “anti-coffee.” A few weeks ago someone on here mentioned a similarly eye-opening experience exploring the world of coffee.

This is a lot different than any other board or forum I have ever participated on. We are a pretty peaceful bunch. It has been a long time since I have seen a major scuffle. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or share opinions. Pick out some people who like teas similar to your likes and follow them. It won’t be long before you will have some friendships developed.

I don’t know about you…I heard you snore now and then!

Bonnie that’s because some of us actually have to go to sleep and not chat on Steepster all night ;)

Oh good, I have several odd tea related questions that I will ask eventually. Everyone seems quite civil, mature, and pleasant. Don’t worry, I will be kind as well.

I’m glad everyone is so open to all drinks. I guess I’m bring a bit of my own bias against coffee. It’s too bitter for me. Except for iced coffee and americanos.

My wife starts her day with coffee. I have tried I just can’t learn to like it. For me it is tea or Mtn Dew.

I’m sure everyone has started their day with soda once in their life (diet root beer for me). My parents can polish off a pot of coffee in one mourning. It’s way too much caffeine for me; I’ll stick with the tea.

I hate coffee, but my Mum was always a coffee-holic (black, pot after pot all day long). Blegh! : )

I can relate. Coffee smells like a good old fashioned breakfast.but the taste is disappointing.

Hello

Newbie here too, everyone here seems very knowledgable and friendly. Almost too good to be true, so my best guess is it’s some sort of CIA front.

Civil people on the internet?! What is the world coming too?

I’m the resident old person. A pet. Someone they keep around in case something from the distant past comes up like a living google. I love the people here…great writers and good hearts all!

Well I know who to ask for advice in the future!

Hi Peppermint. Welcome to the community! Just so you know, Bonnie is so much more than a pet. She is a tea sage— incredibly wise with many insights into the teas that she drinks, very respectful, and her posts read like short stories that captivate your psyche with colorful words and descriptions.

I really hope you enjoy your time here. The more you participate, the more fun you will have!

Bonnie said

Chadao! You shocked me! What a humbling kind thing for you to say! And by the way, where have you been?! There’s a tea festival next month! Colorado Steepsters should meet up sometime!

chadao said

I completely agree. That would be a lot of fun. Are you going to the Rocky Mountain Tea Festival at Dushanbe? I’m already signed up for classes: the Japanese tea ceremony, the business of tea, Taiwanese oolong, and one or two more that escape my mind… Will I see you there?

Bonnie said

Yes and maybe Jason too.He came to Fort Collins for tea at Happy Luckys a few weeks ago and we swapped tea and drank a lot!!! of tea!!! I haven’t signed up for a class yet. There’s an Oolong tasting at Ku Cha on the 30th. Might go.

So Bonnie is our wise women in our little tea tribe, huh? Well, this budding novice know’s who to ask for advice and model my tea reviews off of.

BiggieG You’ve found us out! Now what will we do?

Welcome! Everyone in the community is super nice and I think we all have an open mind so bringing up coffee wouldn’t bring an onslaught of any kind :)I’ve learned so much from joining this community and our fellow steepsters have a lot of great suggestions and are happy to help our community out.

I have never met nicer people than all the lovely folks I have met on Steepster.
I am fairly new here myself, only been on for over a month.
Everyone has their preferences, but everyone on here carries it with grace and good humor.
It is a very pleasant and peaceful place to come to everyday:)
Welcome!

Welcome! Yes this is an awesome place and amazingly drama free! Enjoy and while I have been off coffee for about two months now I have kept my turkish coffee around just in case :)

I drank coffee for awile. But I could never drink it black; it must always have cream. I prefer tea. But if I ever crave coffee, a smooth Americano does the trick.
