Floating Tea Duckie on Sale at Hobo Ninja

I know some of you have this and others may want it. I think this is a pretty good price for it if I recall.

LOL yeah it is if I used tea balls I would nab one.

Might be a good gateway tea appliance for seducing people away from teabags. I much prefer my steeper baskets myself since they allow for better tea expansion. Despite that, I still find myself tempted simply because I’m a sucker for cute things. Don’t tell my dogs. they get away with enough as it is. :P

I have one, even though it’s pretty useless for steeping because it’s so small, it’s too cute to care!

I wonder how well it works, I can’t even get satisfaction out of a tea ball… looks cute though. :)

In case anyone was curious about its size, here it is compared to the infuser basket for my 21 oz teapot that I also normally use inside a mug

Thanks for the pictures Amanda, that’s super helpful. It is pretty wee!

Someone who knew I liked tea gave this to me as a gift several years ago. It’s really cute (it bobs up and down in the mug), but the basket size is very small. About the size of those small metal tea balls, but possibly even a bit smaller.

I’ve only used it a few times with a small-leaf, strong black tea where you don’t need to use much leaf (like a cheap assam or an english breakfast or something). If they made the basket bigger, the duck would have to be bigger and it probably wouldn’t float or fit well in a mug.

Would it work well for Rooibos since that doesn’t expand?

I had problems where the rooibos would float out from between the bottom of the duck and the top of the basket, and then on top of that, it still got through the mesh.

Ugh. That’s a bummer. Thank you for sharing though. This is so cute.. But not very functional. A lot like this flower tea strainer: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000I1WMEI/ref=redir_mdp_mobile

Sounds like a novelty item may make a cute gift in a tea swap or something but yeah I would pass on it personally. I mean I would not mind getting one as a gift but I would not want to pay for one LOL I know that sounds terrible huh? Its cute but would probably collect dust.

Or you could brew the tea your usual way and then float the duckie on top for presentation!

If I can ever buy the shark one that’s what I planned to do with it.
