Tea & Books - What are you reading?
I put aside my last book to read the new ODD THOMAS book ODD APOCALYPSE and reading pieces of 365 Ways To Live Happy, Simple Ways To Find Joy Everyday :)
Always drinking Teas while reading
it is very good so far, i’m a big fan of Koontz specially the Odd Thomas series :)
Excellent! I’m just starting out in the series – I think my favourite character is definitely Elvis haha
Just finished “The English Breakfast Murder” and going to be starting “The Jasmine Moon Murder” a part of the Tea Shop Mysteries by Laura Childs
The series sort of sags in the middle, but I read it for the tea descriptions anyway ;) “Teaberry Strangler” is nearing the top of my to-be-read pile. I believe my very favorite character is Drayton.
Currently reading 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus. I sort of blazed through a really light fantasy novel and moved on to the next in the series. Then I realized that I simply wasn’t in the mood for light reading so I picked up this non-fiction book that I had on my list. It is really excellent so far. I’ve known for a long time that Native Americans are severely misrepresented. This book is really fabulous and should be required for all history book writers. Very well researched and written like a story rather than a lesson. It should be part of high school history class!
I almost decided to become an archaeologist back in college so I’m a real fan of the study of ancient cultures. That may explain why I find this book so fascinating. Though, to be honest, the culture wasn’t really all that ancient considering that it only goes back a few hundred years. It is very obscure though because of the speed at which the population was decimated.
Ok, I’ll stop before I start lecturing. I should have been a college professor. :P
I rarely read nonfiction for recreation, but I picked up a copy of “Red China Blues” at a book giveaway and I am liking it. Author Jan Wong; a wannabe Maoist goes to China in the early 1970’s and discovers it isn’t quite what she anticipated…
I’ve got three books going at the moment:
Blood Orange Brewing
My husband doesn’t know how I can keep them all straight, but they are all different enough to keep track of. :)
One no-brainer for lunch break that I can keep in my tote bag, one that takes a little thought when I have some uninterrupted time, one that takes no brains for late evenings…
The Magicians by Lev Grossman was amazing, and now I am starting The House of Discarded Dreams by Ekaterina Sedia.
I finished reading No Humans Involved by Kelley Armstrong and started reading the Stepsister Scheme by Jim C Hines. (Jim C Hines is awesome! Goblin Quest ruled!) Today is also the start of the Doctor Who bookclub on goodreads.com so I’m also reading Peacemaker for that :D
I’m currently reading Stephen King’s 11/22/63. On Goodreads? Awesome. I’m http://goodreads.com/bleepnik
I love when this thread is resurrected! Finished Peyton Place (Grace Metalious) recently and am now halfway through Heavy Weather (PG Wodehouse). After that will be Gold by Chris Cleave. Or Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake by Anna Quindlan. Then I get to finally read the fourth Song of Ice and Fire book!
