Just got This is a Call : The Life & Times of Dave Grohl from the library – one of my favourite musical artists, definitely looking forward to having some time to crack it open

It’s quite good, especially if you like intrigue-filled fantasy. You know, the ones with a massive list of characters in the front you need to refer to all the time because you forget who everyone is XD

About halfway through now and I love Diaz’s prose style. I also couldn’t help laughing out loud while riding the bus at “and of all these things the albino boy was the symbol. Wonder ye then at the fiery hunt”. Brilliant!

I finished up No One Writes the Colonel by Gabriel Garcia Marquez last night, and I’ve now been reading on a beautifully illustrated (with amazing stark black and white paper cut-outs) collection of Mongolian folktales, appropriately titled Mongolian Folktales.

How was No One Writes the Colonel? I love GGM, but haven’t read very much of his yet, mostly his collected stories and 100 Years of Solitude.

Partway through Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake by Anna Quindlan. I wasn’t familiar with her before this book, but I am enjoying it. Reads more like an essay collection on life than a memoir, but I love that. Essays are one of my favourite things to enjoy in the non-fiction world.

I just finished Stephen King’s “11/22/63”. Now I’m reading “Clementine”, by Cherie Priest. Her first book, “Boneshaker”, was my first Steampunk read, and this one is of the same genre, and includes some of the same characters.

Rarely has it taken me as long to finish a novel as it’s taking me to get through 11/22/63. While I’m reading it, I really enjoy it, but when I put it down at the end of the reading session, I find it difficult to pick up and get into again. So odd.

I did enjoy the book, but it wasn’t one of those books I couldn’t put down, which is good because I’m self-employed & it’s easy for me to fall into time-warps, instead of “taking care of bizness”. Actually, this site is a bit of a time warp for me, but I’m loving it!
