Tea & Books - What are you reading?
Reading Into the Wild again because I am in love with Alaska and wilderness stories.
My other book just came as well, Woodswoman, by Anne LaBastille, who lived alone in the wilderness of the Adirondack Mountains. Both true stories.
Reading a Feast of Crows! : )
Tea Lover’s Treasury by James Norwood Pratt. I’m 50-ish pages in and so far it’s only about tea’s involvement in Western world.
Primarily plodding my way through the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan on audiobook. I really enjoy audiobooks on my commute or while doing some sort of mindless, boring chore. Or even while cooking!
I’ve got a few paper-books started as well, but I seem to have been concentrating on the audiobooks lately.
Me too! audiobooks are great when u don’t want to be too distracted or when you are doing chores.
I have the first book of that series, somewhere around here, but just haven’t been able to get myself to start it, dunno why…
I read the first two as paper-books years ago and thought I’d like a little break before going on to the next one. Then I just never got back to it and forgot everything about what was going on. I’m enjoying them much more on audiobook, although I rather had to get used to one of the narrators.
Right now I’m reading "The price of salt by patricia highsmith. But I finished the “Clan of the cave bear” series lately and LOVED it.
I’m reading “A Hidden Fire” by Elizabeth Hunter. I’m a sucker for urban fantasy, & it’s the first in a series (& a free kindle download!), so I figured I’d give it a try. I’m enjoying the characters & the storyline.
Oooh! Thank you for this. I’m a sucker for urban fantasy, too, and also a sucker for free Kindle books. I rather like how they (often) make the first book in a series free, sucking you in and compelling you to buy the series. It’s so much more generous than a free sample/chapter and a great marketing ploy.
[Edit]: The book cover makes me think I may I have misspoken. Perhaps urban fiction is different from urban fantasy? This looks kind of like a romance novel, which isn’t really my thing. Ah well, free book, I’ll read it and find out. =)
I’m drawing closer to the end of the book…there’s a little romance in there, which isn’t really my thing either, but it’s not too steamy & doesn’t run the show (almost sounds like I’m describing some kind of tea, huh? LOL)
Now reading The Snow Queen’s Shadow the last book in the princess series by Jim C. Hines. (I don’t want it to end!)
Just finishing up Haunted by Jeanne C. Stein. Excellent brain candy book!
I finished “A Hidden Fire”, now I’m on to book 2 of the Elemental Mysteries books by Elizabeth Hunter, “This Same Earth”.
Meanwhile, I just noticed that Kat Richardson just released the newest book of her Greywalker series, “Seawitch”. More Urban Fantasy…
I read a Karen Chance short story called Buying Trouble and it rocked! I haven’t read her novels yet though (on my to do list) I actually bought the short story collection because it had Alpha and Omega the start of Patricia Brigg’s spinoff of the Mercedes Thompson series featuring Anna and Charles. Needless to say that rocked too. I could do without the other stories though.
Castle of Wizardry! 4th book in the Belgariad series. Love it so far. Just the right amount of political intrigue, character development, and plot twist :)
I’m more of an urban fantasy girl… normally. like those above!
Pawn of Prophecy series! yeah it rocked! of course other books they’ve done since reallllly strongly echo that first series (I’m not talking just the mallorean but any other book they’ve written since)
As much as I adore my Eddings, I agree with Helena. They really are all the same story retold. Personally I’m most fond of the Elenium/Tamuli series, but probably because those were the ones I read first.
I think you’re right, eventually they are all the same. An orb, a ring… how are they any different right? I’m just happy they don’t make essays out of describing the scenery here lol
After this, I’m reading another Eddings series!
and then Triggers by Robert Sawyer :)
