I’m re-reading Ancillary Justice and Ancillary Sword while waiting for the third book Ancillary Mercy. Great space opera with lots of tea! (My user name is actually a tea from Ancillary Sword…)

As a result of watching Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (thanks for the tip TheTeaFairy), I’ve just finished the first six Phryne Fisher books. They are great little cozy mysteries and they go fast

Anybody like historicals? Picked up “Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker” because I liked the author’s (Jennifer Chiaverini) Elm Creek Quilts series. About Elizabeth Keckley, a freedwoman who became Mrs. Lincoln’s seamstress, dresser, and confidante. Not too far in but liking it immensely.

Since I loved the Abhorsen Trilogy as a teen, I checked out the (more recently published) Clariel from my local library. Never too old, I guess.

I loved that series too! I’ll have to keep an eye out for Clariel.

Great series. Let us know what you think of Clariel.

I can say now that I personally loved it. I will also say that though its in the same world, its definitely not part of the Trilogy. Its a solid standalone. Trying my best not to spoil anything with my feelings.

I just finished The Martian. Looking for a new read… I might try the Maze Runner series next.

How was The Martian?

@ MzPriss
Martian was meh. It had some really exciting parts and some really slow parts. It’s not really sci-fi enough to be very very interesting to me, which I guess is why it was a fair main stream book.

I finished reading “The Fifth Season” by N.K. Jemisin last week, and I pretty much was blown over by it. New review up, too! http://booksandtea.ca/2015/09/the-fifth-season-by-n-k-jemisin/

Long story short: amazing fantasy novel with great worldbuilding and a strong political message.

Just read your review and I’m intrigued. Although not my usual fare, your description of the politics and social strata sound both fascinating and relevant.

Russophile that I am, I am currently reading The Romanov Sisters: The Lost Lives of the Daughters of Nicholas and Alexandra by Helen Rappaport. I am really enjoying this book! It’s a very well researched and moving account of the lives of the Russian grand duchesses collectively known as OTMA.

This book, of course, demands drinking lots of my Russian Caravan and Kumi Tea’s Russian tea blends – Anastasia (My favorite of all blends), Prince Vladimir, and Bouquet of Flowers #108, the favorite tea of Tsar Nicholas II.

На здоровье! (Cheers!)
