Currently taking a break from Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, because despite buying more books than I can handle, I always end up breaking in the middle to check out a bunch from my library. And then of course since those have due dates…

So the above is on hold so that I may read Under the Dragon’s Tail, from Maureen Jenning’s Murdoch Mysteries.

I’ve been reading nonfiction since I simply tired of novels. I’ll be back to them soon. I’m nearing the end of a book called Bad Science by Ben Goldacre. It’s been highly informative and interesting. It has also confirmed all my suspicions about the misuse and misrepresentation of science in media and popular culture. Scariest of all is the purposeful faulty research performed in order to force a desired conclusion. For medicine even! People have died! :(
The author does have a sense of humor so it’s not such a depressing read. I’d recommend it for required reading in science classes at schools. Just excerpts maybe, but I think it has an important message.

Now reading A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett I really liked the movie so I thought I would read the classic book :D

I still fall back to childhood classics when I need a comfort read…Laura Ingalls Wilder and Louisa May Alcott, particularly.

Hoping for some quiet time this weekend to reread A Monstrous Regiment of Women (Laurie King). Sherlock, retired, meets a precocious half-American university student, mentors her, and adventures ensue. Really liked the series, up until the last three books or so.

I like the Dresden Files but have never read his other series is it good?

It’s decent but I don’t think the writing is as strong as Dresden Files, especially compared to the more recent books in the series.

Due to my recent obsession with BBC’s Sherlock, I’ve started reading the old classic Sherlock stories. I didn’t like hem when I attempted them in the past, but now that I can imagine my favorite characters in the stories it is much better. :)

I’m also reading The Picture of Dorian Grey as a part of Steepster’s book club. Seems like just me and MadelineAlyce at the moment. :)
