A Canadian Tea store

I discovered a new store today. It’s located in Ottawa, they some interesting teas.

their website is www.teastore.ca

I am definetly thinking about placing an order.
A local restaurant here sells it, so I think I’m going to buy a cup & see how good it is.

They also ship to the US & use Paypal

It looks like their prices are for 100g. Though it would be nice if they had samples or smaller quantities.

it’s true, but maybe if I ask nicely they will allow it. I’ve done it before :)

I agree the only downfall is the large size.

Have you been there? Is that what their shelves really look like? (with the jars?) I have been told I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to tea, but when I see tea stored in jars on shelves in a tea shop, I usually leave immediately.

Looks like those jars are filled with Metropolitan Tea Company uhh teas. From what I’ve seen at 2 local tea rooms, that are also supplied by them, they all use those same glass jar containers. I think it has something to do with the supplier (but I’m assuming here).

No, it really doesn’t have anything to do with the supplier, except for the fact that the supplier has these jars available for purchase. But the tea shop is not required nor compelled to store their teas in jars (I know this because I was once a tea purveyor myself and I’ve dealt with Metro tea on many occasions). They also have tins available for storage use (which just so happens to be the item that I purchased from metro tea – huge storage tins).

Tea in a jar is one of those things I am also a “tea snob” about – there is a local shop near me that stores their tea that way and I am reluctant to try it as I don’t know how much light and air it’s been exposed to on the shelf before I even taste it.

That is a good question. I am unsure.

I have a local place hear that stores in jars & their tea is always fantastic.
