Which new features do you want the most?
The ability to change the default location for “places”. I have no clue where the city that steepster picked is even located.
I know that various things about swapping have been suggested before, but, if implemented, it would be great if we could have user preferences for it. Like, “turn on swapping” or “turn off swapping,” etc, for people who don’t want to swap, or can’t swap at some point in time.
I would like more user preferences in general. I know others have suggested security prefs and such.
Also, it would be great to have the available amount to swap listed somewhere for the teas we want to swap! (Don’t know if this has been suggested before, as it didn’t come up in my search, but it would make sense if it were. :P)
I would also love to see the “discussions” section set up more like a forum, where you have different forums for each topic (tea companies, tea wares, etc), so if you’re looking for something specific, it would be organized and easier to find. The “search” feature is only so effective. But then we could have a tea-related forum for all tea topics, and we could have a non-tea-related forum for the discussion of other things (like books and stuff). :)
There could also be an option to see all topics/posts, so people who like it as it is can keep seeing it that way.
I wouldn’t be surprised if all of these things have been suggested already, but I wanted to put in my 2 cents. :)
With the user prefs, it would be great if we could have prefs to change the default way we see things. Like the cupboard for example. If I’d like to see mine as an alphabetical list, I’d like to see it that way every time, instead of having to change it to “alphabetical” every time I go to view my cupboard.
IPHONE APPLICATION. Please, that would be amazing.
I love that I can look up tea houses now. Tres cool! Thanks!
I think it would be great if there was some sort of Trading Post feature that people could use to search for other people who are looking for specific kinds of teas to trade. It could have a feature that lets you look for people in your country, to save on shipping costs.
Also, thanks for the new tea house feature! It’s really great, and I appreciate all the work that goes into making Steepster a great little community.
I didn’t see this suggested, apologies if it has been and my eyes are too glazed to detect it, or perhaps it’s here and I’m too tired to find it, but I’d like to see the ability to sort a type of tea by ranking. So, for example, if I wanted to know what got the highest rating of all the lemon herbal infusions rated on steepster I could see that in descending order from highest to lowest.
I second that! And also add my earlier suggestion of having a way to search by ingredient(s), since not all teas are named according to what’s in it.
When you click on “Teas” the default sorting is already by highest rating.
I noticed that, but I was looking for some more granularity in the sorting…
I think you’re saying you would like more detail in the simple search on a specific tea or tea company or whatever. That within the lemon herbal infusions ratings, you would like to sort on things like Steeper name, time to steep, temperature of water, etc. I’d like that as well.
Yes — I could figure out how to sort for herbal and see the items in descending rating order, but I couldn’t seem to sort for lemon only within herbal. It would be nice to be able to compare apples to apples.
I think it would be awesome to have a wish list in addition to the shopping list.
Can’t you just use it as such? A lot of us do.
Yes, I also use it that way too, but I thought it would be nice to specify which tea I planned to buy versus which tea I would buy if I had more money and/or ideas for gifts for bday, xmas, etc. This could simply be implemented with some way to tag the different teas in my shopping cart, or by making a new list, which I don’t think would be too difficult since it’s basically making a replicate of the shopping list.
I’m sure it’s been mentioned in this thread already, but an Android app would be mighty sweet, particularly if it had access to a user’s shopping list and cupboard, and could utilize Steepster’s “Places” search to find current tea rooms and add new ones. Throw in a tea timer as well, and I’d easily put down cash for it.
Yes it has been.
It would be really nice if I could see “number of times I drank this tea” in places other than the cupboard. If I put in a tasting note each time, I can see all of my tasting notes together when I look at the tea — which is awesome! — but if I leave a blank note, that doesn’t show up except as a number on my cupboard. If I run out of a tea and remove it from my cupboard, then I can’t see how many times I drank it, plus that’s not the most intuitive place to look.
Can you please have a guidelines posted for those in need of help in formatting text in posting? I am very new to this and really could use some help.
I am actually talking about the following:
-to bold a word, you use an asterisk on both sides
-to get a temperature degree, you do as Khürt Williams suggested a while back http://tinyurl.com/yfxvell :
(an ampersand and degree, no spaces)
& deg; will produce ° (no spaces between ampersand and deg)
140 & deg;F will produce 140°F. (again, no spaces between number, ampersand and deg though spaces shown here for example)
- to get that crossing out of words effect, you double hyphen the phrase,
-But how to you italicize? how do you underline? how do you change word color for emphasis?
I thought if somebody can post a how-to quideline, it would make the posts more interesting. I can see that some people are already in the know, this is for newbs like me that haven’t a clue until I stumble into it by mistake!
underscores for italics. This fellow _
Yes, I would like these type of guidelines as well.
It appears to use Textile codes, a sort of simplified version of HTML. There are several more examples and a previewer here http://textile.thresholdstate.com/, or some more explanation here http://www.tawawa.org/tutorials/filed/000202.html
Except not exactly, because my links didn’t format right (unless I was doing it wrong); still, that tells how to do italics and . Not sure about colors :(
Tea Bird, You are one cool
dude uh dudette uh person for posting that link – thanks! This is me getting the hang of it!
