Has anyone suggested folders within the mail system yet? I’d like to be able to file some of my mail.

The ability to see tea ratings and rank by rating when you search for a tea by name…for example, I’d like to be able to search for a word (for example, “genmaicha” or “vanilla” or whatever) and then see the ratings for the teas. Is there already a way to do this that I’m overlooking?

Tasting notes of a tea by a single person are sorted by some sort of combination of likes and comments, with a comment seeming to bear more weight than a like. This is good, but it’s not as intelligent as the excellent tea ranking algorithm. If someone does a comprehensive review of a tea when they are new and have few followers, it probably won’t get as many likes as casual tasting notes will when they become established.

Being able to mark one of your tasting notes as your review of the tea might be helpful. I like tasting notes, because they make for a lively conversation going on at all times, but when searching for teas it’d be nice to find true reviews highlighted, with the other tasting notes expandable.

I like Shanti’s idea. Is there a way to search for a ranking of teas by similar type (i.e., vanilla tea, chocolate tea, premium first flush darjeelings)? It seems like I can get a ranking of all teas or teas within a single vendor…

Yep, I agree…it doesn’t have to even be like a categorical listing of all teas with vanilla, all teas with chocolate, etc., but just the ability to search “long jing” and have all the teas with the word “long jing” in their name come up, and then be able to rank them by rating.

Skipping to the last post of a discussion thread doesn’t work much of the time. It rounds up when it shouldn’t (or some similar bug), giving a blank page. It worked with this thread before I posted this, for example.

Bring the “Recent tasting notes” back/expand the feed to go beyond 1 hr.

I guess maybe I’m a bit confused how this is all supposed to work, because I get a reminder each day to post about what’s in my cup, but things seem to be set up to indicate a given tea only once. I drink the same teas pretty regularly so this will leave me with nothing new to post for stretches of time. Is the idea just to highlight new teas as I acquire them, or to kind of “track” what I’m drinking on a day to day basis? Maybe just the way the reminder emails are worded is what’s confusing me.

Either one, but you can absolutely log a tea more than once- Steepster isn’t necessarily set up for you to log a tea only once, only if you choose to. You can opt out of emails by going to your account page.

Then I think I’m not seeing how you log a tea more than once.

Same way you did the 1st time. Click on the tea you want to log, click “add tasting note”. If you want to add commentary and/or steeping parameters do so then click “save”. If not, then just click “save” right away.

Would it be possible for a central payment system to be implemented for the steepster select?

I’m not sure if this has already been noted somewhere in the last 17 pages (I didn’t read them all).

The feature I’d like to see more than anything else is a recommendation engine akin to Amazon’s “people who liked this also liked…” that can take the tasting notes of me and other users and figure out which new teas I should try and which teas people who liked a particular one also liked.

Rather complex, but I think it’d be an awesome way to help everyone explore new options.

Yeah unfortunately I don’t think the search works for this thread or I’d just tell you to do a search. It should…
