Did a quick search and nothing came up from this topic — it would be absolutely, 100% fantastic to add an online tea timer! I don’t have a kitchen timer and I always forget to use my cell phone’s timer, so I usually just estimate times. It’d be great to have an integrated timer here on the website…and then a reminder, when the time’s up, to write a tasting note. :)

There are other ones you can find online so my personal opinion is that it doesn’t need to be duplicated- but your post reiterates a good point… the search does not cover this thread.

Yeah, it’s not anything super-original — but it would be a nice, small addition to the site, I think. :)

I really want an iPad App for Steepster please….pretty please :-)

I agree – or at least have it optimized for the iPad. Steepster crashes safari on the iPad a lot and the rating/heating/timing bars are hard to get right with a touch screen.

Maybe organic and fair trade check boxes on the tea’s profile?

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not…but…I would LOVE to see a keyword search like in the forums but for your own reviews! I have found lately I want to search my own reviews to find a specific tea to refer to in another review – to compare, that sort of thing…I want to make sure I have the correct tea before mentioning it and usually end up being really generic by saying “another tea I’ve had recently” or something like that.

So…would there be any way to have a search within your own tea log!?

That would be GREAT! I know search for this thread has been meantioned- but not for tasting notes. Although tags have been mentioned (like tagging the words chocolate, chai, cayenne, and Smart Balance Milk) for a tasting note on Mayan Chocolate Chai.

Still very very much wishing for an advanced search option to limit search to my own cupboard OR tealog OR posts.

On the website last.fm (it’s a website that tracks music you listen too) it shows your music compatibility with other users. I think it would be cool if steepster did this with different teas so you can see how similar your tea tastes are to other users.

I agree! Librarything does something similar too, where you can see what users have libraries most similar to yours.

I think it’d be great if there was a tea information area. As in, kind of like a cross between an FAQ and a How To. I have plenty of questions about tea and brewing, but I always take what store clerks say with a grain of salt. I’d love to know what other practical tea drinkers think on certain topics.

This is something you can impliment yourself. Check the discussion threads (There’s even a search function)- there’s a ton of info already there. If what you’re looking for isn’t there, just start a new thread:)

When I do a tasting note, I would like to be able to see the rating numbers. Right now, it is a crap shoot for getting on the number you were aiming for, so then you have to go back and edit the rating. Not that big of a deal, but it would be more convenient if I could see the numbers as I slide the slider thingy across the scale.
Thanks:)

this would be great! The fact that I have to guess and then edit my rating is my #1 irritation on this site. (#2 is inability to mark all notices as read)

I tried to add our tea farm as a “Place”, but the choices were:
1. Tea Room 2. Cafe 3. Restaurant 4. Tea Shop
We grow tea and give farm tours. None of the above are a good fit, so i picked “Tea Room” (although we don’t, in fact, yet have a designated Room for Tea – just our family’s dining room!) Could there be a “5. Tea Farm” option?

The Charleston Tea Plantation would also fit this category- +1!

Don’t know if these have already been requested.
When logging a tea under the optional section:
What steep number is it (1st,2nd, 3rd, etc)?
Quantity of tea used
Amount of water

And also, how about being able to comment on the tea companies themselves. Can leave comments about their shipping, customer service, and etc.

All great ideas that have been suggested- it’s good to hear more people agree:)
